    god dam these cheap monitors.

still torn between QHD ultrawide vs 4k….

I do a bit of everything and If i buy one i have FOMO on the other…. cant afford both types lol

    • 1080p to 1440p is a big leap in viewing quality. 1440p to 4k is barely noticeable at 27". Thats what I've noticed with mine

    • still torn between QHD ultrawide vs 4k….

      Don't be

      • What thats still qhd ultrawide.

        • QHD Ultrawide at 200hz refresh rate :)
You won't care about 4K gaming because 4K gaming at this sort of refresh rate requires a NASA supercomputer
Your 4K options are here, next year is going to be great for gaming!

  • Hi, how is this monitor when compared to BenQ PD3200u? BenQ is around $1300. I am looking at getting a monitor to edit on Final Cut Pro.

    Thanks

      no comparison

that benq is 10bit IPS color calibrated screen for accuracy suited to pro editing

      this is for gaming

PD3200u is IPS, this one is VA. VA panels suffer from colour shift (but to be fair IPS panels suffer from contrast shift). Colour shift on VA can be annoying to some people. Both are 10-bit monitors (neither is true 10 bit; both are 8-bit + FRC to achieve 10 bit).

Recently, we are seeing a come back of VA due to introduction of HDR - where contrast ratio is one of the key measures in HDR. VA is known to be good with dark blacks. So, it is no surprise this ViewSonic monitor is quoting HDR. PD3200u, despite being 10-bit display (8-bit + FRC), does not appear to be HDR ready (I tried to find a page which says it is, but no luck). Again, no surprise as the backlight requirements for IPS to reach HDR is tough. True IPS HDR monitors are expensive so far. Cheap ones use firmware hacks to mimic HDR (so not true HDR).

For me, I wouldn't go VA for monitors - because I get annoyed by the colour shift. My brother, however, is happy with VA monitors. However, getting a 4K IPS without HDR today also seems a bit short sighted. BenQ one appears to have a VESA like stand (height adjustable, rotation support) - which is a plus.

      • Thank you so much for the detailed reply.

        Appreciate that.

Looks like i’ll have to keep an eye out on the BenQ if they come up on sale.

I always wonder why are the IPS panel monitors so expensive. Hmmm.

for those who want delivery or those with the 10% off gc

  • Anyone seen/read any reviews for this monitor? And I assume that it's only a 60hz Monitor?

  • I just want a decent 4k UHD monitor for both PS4 pro gaming (Red Dead2) and soon 122+hz gaming on PC with CS:GO, once I get it built (have the CPU and Ram).

    Impossibru -_-

    • How deep is your pocket? With PS4 Pro, you don't need FreeSync, so G-Sync might be more attractive. If money is not an issue, get the one below:

      ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ UHD 144Hz G-Sync HDR 27in Gaming Monitor - $2999

RDR2, the expectation is PC version will be out (probably some time next year).

    • Yeah 4k high RR monitors are not a thing yet so you can either spend as much as a TV on them or wait a while until more of them are made and price drops to a few hundred.

  • I got the 2k version recently and very happy with it. At that price it's a steal!

  • with computer alliance not being on the 20% off ebay it has killed a lot of deals ed lg 27” under $499 at futu on the 20% off …$439 amy time for computer alliance.

  • Still here waiting for a good deal on the XB321HK… sigh.
