Upvote on behalf of those who are not Costco members.

    • this costco thing seems to be not do the average person on the street, at least you can get first choice price matched at any dans store …..no membership required.

    • Is it usually cheap at costco?

    • Welcome to Costco, I love you.

    • Is it worth popping by Costco if I have a membership?

Edit: Nevermind just asked my dad and apparently he paid around 60 at Costco for a few already.

      • How much is it at Costco?

  • $61.20. Cheapest price it has ever been?

    • Same question. Anyone can answer pls before i order some of them? Thanks

      • Chair4 currently at Costco if you have a membership

  • Thanks. My wallet is now 61.2 dollars lighter. Xmas n New Year sorted.

somehow it always taste the same like black,so BLACK all the way!

    • ALDI highland black?

    • No way, gold is far superior , can easily be drank smoothly straight.
I buy at airport duty free for 100 when off on a trip

      • +3

Nah, Gold is pretty low-quality stuff and actually quite comparable to Black. Red is the cheapest, and good as a mixer.
What you really want is Green Label. Platinum is overrated. Double-Black is uniquely my favourite.
        Blue is Best.

I think I've tried every flavour they have, except the very expensive Limited Editions.

        • +1

Green is the one you want. I agree.

Although, Johnny Walker isn't even in my top 10.

There are far better scotches out there but not anywhere near this price.

  • brought one. thanks op

      Bought?

      • Lol. bought. Sure.

  • For some reason I have black, green, platinum, blue.

I guess I can't miss out on a different colour.
    When is Johnnie orange coming?

  • Currently drinking Black at the moment, but have had a sip of the Green I bought last week and it is sublime. Can Gold be any better?

    • +2

Green is a better drop and smoother imho

  • Delicious. Bought thanks OP

  • Costco price: $65.99. So this is cheaper

  • Johnnie Walker Green Label is $64 at Dan's, is this worth me driving 30km to pick up vs walking 700m down the road to Dan's?

    • +10

      Yes.
You can combine green with the gold and make Johnnie walker Australian

    • Free postage if you have ebay plus.

    • cost of fuel and time ….do the dans 700m.

some items also kept under the tasting counter at dans ….ask nicely incase they have the johnnie walkers so you can try ….

  • damn it! just bought two from Dan Murphy's at $92.99 this afternoon… ready to go to my clients tomorrow

    • Why Gold?

    • You can return them if not used

  • Getting error at checkout :( Tried number of time…anyone know the reason for Error Code 70049 70084 on Ebay.

    • +1

The most likely reason is the store stock count is not accurate/update properly on ebay. The store you select is most likely out of stock and ebay is still letting you choosing that store for pick up. May be try a different store.

This is not the definitive answer but it is what i have work out from multiple tries. I spent hours with the useless ebay support and they could not figure out why, but i notice popular items at busy store tend to produce the most error.

If you have ebayplus you can get it deliver for only $3.40 extra using the code P5OFF at the checkout.

      • Thanks. It worked with a different store…much appreciated.

  • Between this and a bottle of Aberlour 12, any advice?

    • Aberlour 12, easily.

I'd suggest the Johnnie to be easier to drink and very typical, while the Aberlour is going to be more interesting and complex.

      What have you tried previously?

      • Further to this. I'd recommend the alternative JW Green which is a blended malt (instead of a blended JW Gold) - you can get it for $58.50 with the same coupon.

      • One of favourite is Glenfiddich 15. I've also had Glenmorangie and Glenlivet.
Lagavullin is on my list, I want to try it

What would you get between the Aberlour 12 or the Green label?

        • In that case I'd go for the Aberlour 12, it is bold and has a lot of flavour, however don't expect it to be similar to the Speysides you have already tried. Blends can be nice but once you've hopped on the single malt train it's harder to go back in my opinion.

I can recommend the Lagavulin too although it very different to what you have tried and a bit more expensive. The Laphroaig Quarter Cask or 10 is of a similar nature and I prefer those slightly over the Lagavulin 16.

@EDM: I might try the Aberlour then.

Thank you for the great advice!

            • +1

@Darnn: No worries. You really can't go wrong with either but the sherry influence of the Aberlour could be something you love or hate.

A step up from the Aberlour 12 would be the Aberlour A'bunadh however I'd recommend the Glenfarclas 105 which you can get at Nicks for $105 - a litre of 60% cask strength, fantastic stuff.

              • @EDM: Man that Glenfarclas 105 from Nick's is really appealing. It sounds like something I would like as well.

                So many options ugh

  • still waiting for the pick up notification. they were out of stock.
