Don't have a VR system so can't comment on whether it's worth it but this seems like a decent price. The same bundle without Astrobot is going for same price as well https://www.bigw.com.au/product/playstation-vr-with-camera-v…

Quite a good price with Astro Bot included.

Astro Bot is going for $49 on its own right now, so it's effectively $200 for the headset.

I picked up PSVR plus Astro Bot (separately) during Black Friday - I'm really enjoying the system so far and Astro Bot is fantastic. I think if you have the disposable income, $249 for a VR system and this game is worth it, particularly if you have friends/family who you can share some experiences with.

    • I’ve alwayd imagined the PSVR fairly unsociable but I might bite the bullet and get one. Seems like a good price.
Hopefully the Mrs won’t get too lonely with me playing this haha

Some of the games are multiplayer, if she likes to play social games. They're quite fun.

        • Any chance you can point me in the right direction for multiplayer?
Would you need 2 headsets or something?

          • +4

@Muscles: Playroom VR is a fun multiplayer game to play with friends, and it is also free on the Playstation Store too. There is also a game called VR The Diner Duo which is multiplayer in a way that one person uses the VR headset and move controllers to cook food whilst the other person on the TV with a controller runs around the diner delivering and taking orders. This type of multiplayer is the only sort of local multiplayer you will get with VR, otherwise you will need a second console and headset to play VR games online with another person.

          • +5

@Muscles: There's a great game called Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes. It's a bomb disposal game where the person in the headset has to defuse the bomb and everyone else reads instructions on the screen for it.

            • @SpiffyTheDog: Thanks for the suggestions, they sounds really fun

              • @Muscles: As the other commenters have suggested, Playroom VR is multiplayer. You only need multiple controllers, one VR set. The headset generally sees a different scene than what's on the TV - it can be very entertaining. I've played with a heap of mates before (but only had one working controller and a terrible second controller, lol)

              • @Muscles: If you haven't already grabbed it, it is now only $10.45 on the PS Store. I just spent $97 on there as there are tons of good PSVR games that went on sale today at really good prices.

                • @XVX: Thanks mate,
Just purchased the VR and will get it now. Seems cheap

      • +1

The PS4 will output the user's viewpoint and audio to the TV, so others can see what's going on. I've found it fun to be in a small group and have someone strapped in to the VR headset while the others watch and talk to them, particularly if they're new to VR.

        • Playing games like Surgeon Simulator and Job Simulator are really fun in this scenario from previous experience. People seem to love spectating and calling out different things for the VR player to try to do.

NO DEAL cause does not come with camera. Picked up the eb games deal instead for 300 with skyrim astrobot and vr worlds

      • +3

You can clearly see the camera on the VR box.

        • -2

You are right i got duped

      • Be great if it was a post but you are just blowing your own trumpet messaging here

  • -5

Looks like everybody is giving up on VR, like yesterday's jam. A pity.

    • +10

Quite the opposite, this is a newish bundle and not a clearance. Useless sample size but it's only getting more popular with gamers I know.

    • +5

Not at all, it's just finding its feet with truly incredible games that wouldn't be the same without VR. The price is just catching up now which is great to see.

  • Is astro bot a dual shock game or a move game?

    • +1

Dual shock. It makes really great use of it, in fact it plays a part in the game

  • +3

Astrobot is a great game. I've never been into platform games but this game is one of the most pure fun games I've played in years.

    • -1

This title won't give you motion sickness.

      • Yep true. I bought Firewall and the aim controller, played 5 mins and got sick. Need to slowly get used to it

        • Firewall is a pretty intense game to start off with it's incredibly fun but also fast and frantic. Have you tried resident evil or Skyrim?

          • @micbrc: No I need to get RE7, not too sure about Skyrim. Heard good things but I wasn't into the original but might change my mind in VR.

  • I tried to pick this up yesterday as a gift but big W near me only had headsets and no copies of astro bot.

I would advise everyone to phone ahead because like most big retail stores that run their game section out of their photo development counter they are kind of useless.

    • This happens to me most times I go to big W. They are terrible with their stock and sales. Even phoning ahead doesn't mean they can actually find it when you get there.

Is it just a given now that any Playstation VR pack comes with the V2 version? Thanks!

  • Two words: Beat Sabre

    • +2

I think you meant 'super hot'

  • I'll wait until they increase the glasses technology and resolution. It's still too pixelated to be viable.

Also the move controllers are dumb

    • +1

Have you used a Playstation VR before? It is actually really good at hiding the pixelation in most games and the lower resolutions just result in a less clearer image rather than visible pixelation. You would be surprised how easy it is to not even notice the lower resolution once you are immersed.

  • +1

good deal as long as it is V2. I have seen a few shops last week still selling V1

  • Does any body knows if this is V1 or V2?

    • I just got one and it was V2.

But I would check when you purchase in store, as it's not an official bundle just the VR + the game (unlike the doom bundles in the US where you were guaranteed a V2 VR).

  • For those with glasses, do yo have any issues using the VR?

    • +2

No, but I'd recommend installing 3D printed protectors to avoid your glasses from scratching the lenses.

    • +1

I use my psvr with glasses, if you don't warm up the headset/glasses first you can get a bit of a fogging issue, but aside from that there is plenty of space in the headset for your glasses to fit.

v2 boys and girls. just got one.

    Can confirm its all V2.

The Mega pack seems like a good deal? $349

    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/playstation-vr-mega-pack-bun…

What you’ll find in the box
    PlayStation VR headset
    Processor unit
    Stereo earbuds
    HDMI cable
    USB cable
    AC adaptor and power cord
    PS VR headset connection adaptor
Includes PS4 Camera V2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Astrobot Rescue Mission, Doom VFR, PlayStation VR Worlds and Wipeout Omega Collection

    • It's $329 at JB hi Fi.
But yeah it's a great option if you want to spend a little more doom vfr is incredibly fun when using an aim controller.

      • Ohhh even better then! Good find.

      • Is it? It's not on their website anymore, gives a 404 error.

        • Yeah I couldn't find it. Might have to call them.

          • @JakeTheMuSS: Yeah, I've got a $250 JB voucher from work so I'll check and see.

            • @kensaiD: Let me know how u go. Might be interesting in it also!

              • @JakeTheMuSS: Went to the JB at Homebush DFO, they said they were sold out and couldn't throw in any other games as part of a bundle. Asked them to price match Big W though and so I got it for free thanks to work.

    • +1

So do we need to buy move controllers for this to work? How come none of these bundles come with!

      • I believe a regular PS4 controller works for all VR games, and the Move controllers are an optional luxury.

That is why they are sold separately.

    • So it's basically $70-100 for: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim + Doom VFR + Wipeout Omega Collection, which is pretty good if you want those games.

I also noticed the Sony Website said this bundle came with version 1 of the headset, so I would check in store if you care about versions.

It's also $349 at Harvey Norman which is good if you have the Amex $50 off promo.

  • This same bundle is available from Target as well, about $255 or something, I didn't take a photo. A slightly more expensive option, but may be more convenient to some people.

    • Two Targets within a 30 min walk. Big W is a two hour drive. And I don't drive. Yep, definitely more convenient for me.

  • remember to use cashrewards WISH egift card for additional 5% off.
