What is the best economical way of travelling between Melbourne Airport & Pakenham for 3 travellers with luggage? Have a car, can park. Open to public transport. Please suggest.

Depends on how long you are going away for.
$180 one way for the three of them is pretty pricey. Just booked three weeks undercover shuttle carpark for $155.

I just park at the airport. Skybus is expensive when you’re traveling with multiple people.
Would be great if there was a train that went out to the airport.It might be great, but would depend on the price of the tickets.
If you have the time I would take a train to a station near airport and uber/taxi from there.
If you have time, the cheapest way to get there is to get to Dandy station and take the 901 bus. But, it takes more than 3 hours, and it would depend on what time your flights are.
How long are you travelling for?
Might work out cheaper to park your car in a longterm carpark near the airport (e.g. https://www.groupon.com.au/deals/parking-port-2-2) rather than catching train from Pakenham Station to Southern Cross, then using Skybus to get to airport.
