  • How good is this camera with regards to image quality and usability point of view. I am novice and have never used a pro camera before. Any help will be appreciated.

This is a great entry level camera with very good image quality. If videography is important as well as photography, I’d suggest looking elsewhere though. There’s a lot of really useful content on YouTube that might help answer some of your questions. What’s your budget?

      • Thanks mate. I was looking for something similar. I just need some nice quality photos. Not fussed about video. Will have a look at them later today.

      Hey

The D5600 is one step above the entry level D3500, it is a great camera to start off your photography, it can easily be used in automatic mode where the camera does most of the work for you and as you develop your skills you can progress into shooting manual with it if you like.

It is a 20mp camera with an APC sensor so it has the potential to take some nice pictures that can be printed off at reasonable sizes should you wish to.

I would be confident to say you would be happy with the quality of images that come out of this camera, the staff in the Camera House stores are pretty friendly and all photographers so they can offer some basic pointers and are always a point of contact after purchase should you have any questions.

      • Thanks heaps for sharing your thoughts. I am in need of something that will capture some moments. I was confused between a phone or a camera here (given that you can imagine how novice I am). I will definitely do a bit of research and will ask for assistance and may pop by for a purchase :) thanks again

        • No worries at all, this is a question that is debated a lot, phones are so handy to take photos with an work fine for uploading to instagram or facebook, but they can really fall short for low light photos in a restaurant or on a holiday when your memories are something that you want to just appear that much better.

Without getting too technical the sensor in phones are tiny sensors compared to an DSLR and it really is evident in photos when they are printed out, you just cant beat a proper camera for quality (doesn't matter what brand of modern camera).

I highly recommend making the plunge into photography with a real camera and i believe it will be hard to use your phone for anything but selfies after.

          • @Hornsby Camera House: Interesting points. Can you tell me when is this offer ending and what’s yoir return policy?

            • @ashftc: The sale ends on boxing day or when stock runs out, depending which comes first.

We don't have a change of mind return policy for in store purchases, it could only be returned if it was faulty under DOA and not fit for purpose (14 days).

But honestly speaking if you are after a camera for entry level or semi professional you will be satisfied with this camera that being said lens play a huge part in your photography and they can definitely be upgraded in the future to achieve more and try different styles and techniques.

try not to get yourself bogged down with to many brand or model options, as the differences at beginner level are minor enough not to make a significant difference for an average shooter. Most brands if not all will pull out a better image than a phone can give you and they will all be an amazing gateway into a fun and creative hobby and get you looking at the world in a whole new perspective.

              • @Hornsby Camera House: Thanks for that. So the warranty will be from Nikon themselves? 2 years?

                • +1

@ashftc: Correct, but you have to register through Nikon Australia to get the second year (which a lot of people don't realize). All Nikon interchangeable lens cameras that are Australian stock work this way, we don't offer grey imports either so its all genuine stock with manufacturers warranties.

We are always here to help should an unfortunate fault happen, we are happy to facilitate its repair.
