    I can't see fries.
Can you list a couple of examples that are worth bringing to attention?
I rarely get McDonalds so I don't know what we're supposed to make of this information. Is it surprisingly less than the price they charge customers?

It is not a deal, it is just a point of interest.

      I can't see fries

Wouldn't it be listed as potatoes?

      PS: couldn't see potatoes.

      • Maybe it's on the next page…..

      • I can't see fries.

This is a waste list, basically everything they throw out because it fell on the floor or was kept in a warmer beyond when they could sell it. To be honest the only thing that surprises me about this is that they do actually appear to be wasting food due to it hanging around too long. 20 years ago the store I was at barely threw out anything (no matter how old), and this was in the days of pre-made burgers.

Fries wouldn't be on it because they're not exactly going to sit there and count every fry that fell on the floor. They'll use a list like this to check staff aren't stealing anything (and for re-ordering stock). Basically what the register sold + this list should be the amount of stock the used.

So what is cost price? Just the food, or the labor, rent, electricity, capital, maintenance waste, advertising, and so on. The list means nothing unless you know if this price is just raw materials or includes a factor for some of the other costs, and which ones.

    • I feel like it would just be the material cost. For e.g. they list slices of cheese. And this is a food wastage counting form

When I used to work at Maccas few years back I saw the price list for the entire ingredients. It cost about 22 cents for cheese burger patty. Total ingredients cost was about 55 cents per cheese burger. Let that sink in if you're wondering about the quality of the food.

I wouldn’t be concerned about the quality.

The actual beef patty is only 1/10th of a pound (45g). 3 star mince can be had for what, $4/kg. That’s $0.36 for 45g. With the quantity that McDonalds would purchase in, is $0.22 that much of a stretch.

Cheese is cheese you can get from Colesworth. The buns are high in sugar, but they come from Tip Top, I believe.

The buns don't have half the sugar in them they used to back in the day. In the 90s you used to toast them and they would get a shiny glaze due to all the sugar, some time around then they reduced the sugar and they toasted considerably less shiny. Still they'd have sugar in them though, as most bread does.

feels good to never eat mcdonalds

  • Useless information, cost price (price of ingredients?) doesn't include, rent, wages, electricity, IT, insurance.. list goes on…

    • Useless information to do what? What would you have done with it if it did include that information? Why post?
