G'day OzBargain!

Advent Games is a Sydney-based, friendly online board game store, and I'm having a massive END OF YEAR SALE! All in stock items are at least 20% OFF RRP, with lots of much deeper discounts. (Please note this excludes preorders).

I've created a few extra site categories to help you sort through the discounts, allowing you to quickly find those heavier discounted items

21% - 29% OFF RRP
30% - 39% OFF RRP
40% - 49% OFF RRP
50% AND MORE OFF RRP

There's more info on the site, but if you have any questions about the sale or the site, please let me know and I'll help out as best I can. I'll try to respond to any questions in the comments, or via email: [email protected] or Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/adventgamesau/

The sale ends midnight Dec 31st, and everything is while stocks last.

HAPPY GAMING!

About: And a bit about Advent Games - the store was started in 2012 and sits more on the niche Hobbyist end of the spectrum. My name is Dean and I took over the ownership and running of the store in 2015. I'm an avid euro board gamer and play locally in Sydney. I also run a yearly event with players attending to play as many of the new games as I'm able to snap up at Essen.

Shipping is via AusPost eParcel, and while it's a little pricey, I use good quality cardboard boxes and plenty of packing to take as much care as I can ensuring your games arrive safely.

This is part of Boxing Day Sales for 2018

This is one of the best and most reliable board game stores in Australia. As he says above, the store is more on the side of enthusiast hobbyists, but I've found him to be one of the most reliable and open operators in Australia.

      You're a scholar and gentleman, norkle. :)

  • Nice work Rep.

Question - you don't happen to have replacement card decks for Catan by any chance?

    • Contact the publisher directly.

      • Yeah USD$11 plus shipping of USD$12 puts it on a par with buying the full game on local ebay and the like.

          No idea who they are.

Here's Asmodee NA Replacement Parts service:
          https://parts.asmodeena.com/partsrequests/

          • @norkle: Thanks norkle.

@norkle: Worked out that Catan Shop in the link is operated by Catan Studio, which is the Asmodee publishing studio in North America (so official), but they direct replacement requests to Asmodee NA (parent co) at the link I gave above.

In Australia, most FLGS would assist with parts requests for games you bought from them, but personally I've found going to the source they'll often replace at no cost. As long as we don't abuse it, this is a good thing. Also pirating may also affect the service in the future - they would lose money replacing components from counterfeit games.

Sorry cornbeef, not something i keep parts for… But as norkle mentioned, going to asmodee should get you sorted. 🙂

I don't know most of these games, only heard of Carcassonne, Pandemic, and Mountains of Madness. Can anyone recommend any?

    • What sort of board games do you like?

      • I own a few social deduction games like Avalon and Coup but I'm looking to branch out. Also own 7 Wonders Duel and Pandemic, and have enjoyed games like Dominion in the past.

Settlers of Catan is a good game and the numerous expansions change the play significantly. Azul is the most recent Game of the Year and gets a good rap.

@cornbeef: Thanks! Just realised I couldn't see everything on mobile - on my laptop now and I recognise way more games.

            • @Ozymandias: I haven't played Azul but from what I've read I"m keen to check it out, incidentally. That said, I think that $55 (excl shipping) isn't a great deal for Azul. I've seen it cheaper on eBay (although maybe counterfeit at some prices).

      G'day Ozymandias,

A friend actually sent me an excellent list the other day for just such a question!

      BGG 150 Best Gateway Games

It's a series of the top 150 Gateway Games as voted on by BGG members (BoardGameGeek is the hobby's main resource for info, etc).

Taking a browse through that can be a great place to start, but I thoroughly recommend watching shows like Wil Wheaton's Tabletop on Youtube to get an idea of how games will play with groups of people, as it's the group you play with that makes the game. :)

Then you can use BGG as a resource to find how-to-play videos and runthroughs and the hobby spirals from there!

Hope that helps. Or at least makes it more confusing. ;)

  • Managed to get eclipse for $85 which is a bargain! Just sent you an email rep - is it possible to pick up my game on Friday or are you closed? I'm only in Sydney for a few days.

  • We like to see prices. Bargains have prices. ® © ™
