The Good Guys price guarantee now no longer offering cash, only store credit

I noticed today that the Good Guys price guarantee page has been updated to say that they will now only offer the 120% difference as store credit. Before it used to say that you could get the difference paid back to you as cash on EFTPOS cards.

The fine print does not say how long the store credit will last for, and that it will definitely expire at some stage. Also you can't buy certain brands with the store credit, eg Apple.

This has really made attraction of the price guarantee take a huge hit - no longer really that much of a good deal if you can only get store credit.

    Thanks for the PSA

  • Think it depends on enforcement by the cashier though.

I made a claim a fortnight ago expecting a store credit, but the lady happily put it back onto my card no questions asked. So YMMV.

    • Yeah hopefully stores don't follow the website terms and conditions too strictly - if making a claim back via the website though I think it's only store credit from now on.

Maybe they should change their name to The Average Guys. :+)

  • Yeah, any ‘security’ TGG thought that they might offer for customers does somewhat go out of the window if the money you get back is limited in scope and applicability. Not much of an incentive here methinks.
