Ideal Gadget Legit? (Requesting Bank Transfer)

Good evening and Merry Christmas everyone.
I'd love to hear anyone's experience with Ideal gadgets. http://www.idealgadget.com.au

Are they legit and has anyone used them successfully?

I see some previous posts here for various iPhone models.

Tldr- about us mentions they take PayPal, but checkout did not allow it. Paid with debit card. Got an email saying their portal has been attacked and they want a bank transfer.

Long- my brother is purchasing himself a gear s3 for Christmas and the they're cheapest Australian stock from ideal gadgets. I'd never hard of it so I checked here and saw deals had bee posted before, that it was aus stock and that they took PayPal. https://idealgadget.com.au/index.php?route=information/infor…

Checkout didn't allow him to use PayPal so he used debit card.
Now they've emailed him saying the payment portal has been attacked and they require a bank deposit.

This is red flaggy to me

Thanks in advance.

Their chat response
"however we are presently unable to process payment through that system right now because the problem we are facing is affecting our online payment portal and paypal account simulteneously since they are linked to the same company account."

Sounds like a very risky scenario and the numerous typos on their website do not add confidence. You really need to ensure credit card /paypal buyer protection as a minimum for a company that is unfamiliar. Worth paying a little more from a reputable retailer or try pricematching as per the helpful response below!

Officeworks will price match as they have an au domain name. Just keep and simple and price match there.

      No stock :(

You have next to no cover with bank transfer. If they decide to keep the money and run off you're screwed. While with Paypal you could launch a dispute with a high probability of getting your money back.

As the saying goes… if it's too good to be true…

He should also keep an eye on OzBargain as the product has been cheaper

You're right however it seems stock has run out. None at officeworks or Harvey Norman or Samsung etc.

Not worth it - scam bells are ringing loud!

This is obviously a scam: unknown store, too good to be true prices and requesting non-reversable payment.

That mobile number looks familiar to me,
Maybe used for another online store.

Can't get my head around it

Definitely a scam. You’ll never see the phone arrive in mail

100% SCAM just like https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/421861 and https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/427351 are scams with exactly the same MO. Could even be the same scammer.

Edit: They are using the same bank a/c as the scammers in the 2nd link(scroll to the bottom for my post). So same scammers.

I joined up here just to let everyone know that this guy is still using this ploy. I placed an order for a phone and paid by debit card and a received an email requesting a bank transfer. I asked if I could pay over the phone. No, had to be bank transfer. This seemed a bit weird to me so I did a search online and found your thread. So obviously the crippling 'software attack' has been going on for over a week and he is STILL taking people's credit card details, even though he cant process them, and through, by his own admission, a portal that has had its security compromised. I cannot be 100% sure he is a scammer, but I'm not waiting to be cleaned out either. I have canceled my card as this guy has all my details. Thank you for posting, as I'm pretty sure, there's a good chance I was going to lose my money.

"…You made payment with your Credit Card; however we will not be able to charge it because our credit card merchant account (payment gateway) is presently offline due to some software attack on the portal. Hence, we are been advice by our bank to process all payments manually, considering the safety of our customers credit cards details on our payment portal. Once the payment gateway issue is resolved, we will promptly start accepting credit cards payment via the process.

Based on the advice from the bank the Management of I Deal Gadget PTY LTD will currently attend to customers who can make their payments via the manual payment system ( BANK TRANSFER) as alternative, where the money can be confirmed once payment is done and the packaging/shipping dept will proceed to package and ship your item to your delivery address without any form of delay.

Shipping will be done as soon as we confirm the payment and DHL Express tracking number and Airway Bills will be forward, which will enable you monitor the package online until it arrive your doorstep."
