No Remote in Box. Hisense P7.

Ozbargainers….we have a problem.
We got our TV today from Appliance Central but the box contained no Remote, Screws, AC Cable. It's a Hisense 65P7

Hisense can't get a remote to us until 3-5 Days and we can't get through the Time & Date screens without one (I purchased everything else to get it up and running). Once we get through those screens we can connect to Wi-Fi and use our phones.

If anyone has a Hisense P7 series remote in Northern Suburbs, Melbourne area tonight/tomorrow to lend us for 15 minutes it would make our families New Years & Christmas. We have a universal remote at home but having no luck getting it connected.

Why not just connect via LAN to your router then use the HiSense remoteNOW app?

Oh LAN might work. Let's see!

      • Did not work?

It worked, you're a legend. We got past the Time and Date screen but unfortunately our house doesn't have internet to that specific port so moved the router back to the study. Going to get a long ethernet cable tomorrow and connect to the network and go from there. Thank you!!

          • @mavo: Cool. :) You can't setup the TV to wifi while lan is also connected?

@LikeMike: Turns out it disconnects LAN as soon as you press Wireless which disconnects the smart remote.

              • @mavo: Thought that may have been the case. Happens a lot

  • Can you borrow a universal remote like a Logitech from a friend?
What brand is your universal remote?
    Cheers

    • We have a cheap target remote RC series. Googling it doesn't give us much help, resetting it and applying the Hisense code doesn't connect either.

Does your mobile have an IR port? if you do, then you can download a Universal Remote app like Peel and use it as an alternative.

  • Ex display tv?

Apparently not, that was my first suspicion but Appliance Central were adamant that It was brand new. All stickers around the edge were present as well as on the stand. Box well packed.

      • Was the box itself completely sealed?

I got a TV from them two months ago (Samsung TV - nothing was missing), and the box was sealed by the manufacturer. ie, AC didn't open it or do any inspections before sending it out (which is good and it is what I prefer so that I can see that it's brand spanking new).

Yep completely sealed, Fresh box all taped up. I agree, I like the unboxing process too :) Just with all the parts in there!

          • @mavo: Sounds like it was left out by the manufacturer then! Did you check all every inch of the box abd all the cardboard bits and pieces? They seem to have got creative with how they box these things! haha

  • Try the SURE app.

    • Tried it but no luck :(. Thank you for the tip

    • Will give this a try next I think.

  • Did you get the book? I got a 65p8 recently and though all that was missing but it was all in a bag stuck to the inside of the main box (the sides/top that unclips & lifts off the bottom section)

    • No book :(.

      • Bugger.

I think they run a version of android on it? Maybe connect a USB keyboard and try? Also worth heading to the shops and asking if you can borrow one (especially if you just bought it from said shop) most likely they have one available for the demo you can use for a few mins (at least get you past setup) done once before.

This is the best solution, we got it working with a keyboard. All the buttons were binded to odd keys but we could open settings and now connected to Wi-Fi, RemoteNOW app working and able to browse around. Thanks mate.

Just adding a tip to this thread. If you have an older phone then it's worth checking if it has an Infrared (IR) Blaster. Samsung, HTC and a few others have IR Blasters in around 2013-2016 models and you can use it as a universal remote without any wifi / lan connection for the TV. Has saved me a some trouble a couple of times when a remote/tv/network has failed.
