Replaced CFL with LED - Bugs No Longer Attracted to Lights!

So I recently replaced my CFL 20w bulbs with 11w RGB LED bulbs because they were on special, and I noticed the other night that compared to previous years - I have significatly less bugs inside my place that are attracted by the light.

Lo and behold I did some quick reading on it and it turns out that bugs may be primarily attracted to the UV component that CFL lights try to shield from with the coating (but some gets through), with LED lights emitting very little to no UV light.

For those of you getting their gears ground by bugs inside, make the switch to LED for your sanity ASAP!

    Wow thanks for the tip!

I just assumed it was my bad body odour attracting the flies.

Great life pro tip. Cheers op

  • Interesting. I replaced some of the CFLs in my home with the LEDs, mainly because the energy consumption and lighting is far superior but this is an added bonus.
