Is there a Xiaomi equivalent?
The closest thing I could find was buying the Xiaomi button + the home hub they sell, but it only functions as an on/off switch instead of having multiple buttons.
I do believe you can buy a little cube thing that has 6 functions depending on how you turn it/tap it/shake it/however you control it, I can't remember the name though.
I dim/brighten the lights multiple times a day mostly by voice but the switch is handy if for example the wife is asleep and i dont want give a voice command.
The dimmer switch also allows you to turn the lights on/off and set scenes, so instead of fumbling for your phone you just press the button 1,2,3 times etc. To change to different colour temperatures/coulours/brightness levels.

Yes but walking in to a room and pressing a button is faster/simpler then finding your phone, opening the app and changing the relevant setting.
Yes, but in many many instances a switch is more convenient. At the very least it allows visitors to control lights who I don't want to set up with Hue or give access to my network necessarily. It helps avoid those people using a physical power switch, which they are used to, which then kills the ability to use the phone.
I also tend to turn lights on/off as entering and exiting rooms so having these in door ways helps, especially given from personal experience I've found using motion detection as a way to control lights a bit finicky in some spaces (in spaces where theres a TV for example where we may or may not want lights to go on with motion depending on other activities).
I also find the switch far quicker to use than voice commands if I'm passing by the switch anyway.
Lastly until very recently if power was cut then the bulb would go to a defaul state when turned back on. I find the default state to be too cool a hue and prefer a warmer light so resetting that can be a drag should someone cut power.
We do use them for dimming too but predominately as an on/off switch that doesn't cut power to the bulb. Perhaps they're a tad less important now that Hue are adding memory so that lights that have power cut return to their prior state when power was returned, otherwise these have been extremely handy and does still avoid the issue that bulbs without power can't be operated by voice.
It's just 4 buttons switch, you can configure whatever you want them to do.
Also each button support multiple presses and you can configure different things for different presses.
This is a great product - I've used one in conjunction with a Hue bulb for 3 years to "relocate" a very inconveniently placed light switch. Sparky quoted me over $500 to relocate and rewire the wall switch!

@asa79: It's a battery powered remote. It comes with a magnetic holder that can be screwed and used as a wall switch if you like.
Philips also make a click-button that uses kinetic energy of the press, and doesn't take batteries.
Using the app you add the switch then associate it with a room or bulb. Then program what you want the on button does when you press it the first time, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th (within a couple of seconds). Stick the switch wherever you want. The switch is attached to the holder with magnets and so you can take it out of the holder and walk around with it/ take it to bed with you.
If you have lights in a room you interact with them in three ways. Phone app, voice or one of these switches. If I don't have my phone on me I can still turn the lights on and off as I enter/exit a room.

It works with any Philips Hue lights.
You will need Philips Hue Bridge. But your need one Bridge anyway if you are using Hue lights.
Looks like the Hue range has been reduced at Bunnings. Don't know if it is a temporary sale. They are over priced. I've bought all mine while on sale. JB had/has these switches for $28.

However the starter kit at Bunnings is $206 while Officeworks is $231 so you could price beat for $195.70
Of course Amazon had that kit for $180 last week.

No, unless you already have a Philips Hue hub and using something like Homebridge to get the yeelights and hue bulbs working in Apple Homekit.
Like all of the hue gear, it uses Zigbee to communicate between the bulbs and your phone via a hub. Yeelights use Wifi to connect.

Just bought one from JBs (who price-matched Bunnings who were OOS).
Following that video and the globe is linked directly to the dimmer switch and loses connection to the echo plus.
It seems like you can linke the globes to the echo OR to the switch and not both.
If you want to control by switch and voice, then as far as I can tell, you need to get the hue bridge (another $70!).
@AdrianW: I didn't experience the dimmer unpairing from my echo plus once it was paired with the hue globe
Although I'm not sure what functionality the echo plus can control on the dimmer, I briefly tried saying on/off commands but it didn't do anything
@laviosa: Well, that's exactly the problem - I want to keep the ability to tell alexa to turn the globe on and off.
@AdrianW: Sorry I didn't explain myself very well. Once I turned off and on the physical light switch to my hue globe I was able to pair it to the dimmer, and the hue globe didn't unpair from my echo plus. I can still control the hue (not coloured) globe with my echo plus (on/off, brightness commands). I can control the dimmer with my echo plus (on/off isn't supported, brightness commands are) although you may as well just control the hue globe. If the hue globe is off and I say "dimmer brightness up" it does turn the hue globe on.
Have you tried adding the dimmer to your list of echo plus controlled devices along with the hue globe, and then pairing the dimmer to the hue globe after turning off/on the physical light switch?
@laviosa: I did attempt to add the dimmer to the echo but I had no success - I'm not sure how that would work as you can't really turn the dimmer "on" to allow it to be discovered.

Actually I just managed to get it connected (by pressing the little button inside the hold on the back) and getting alexa to discover devices.Now to see if I can get it to work the globes at the same time.

There are other apps that allow you to have a lot more control than the official app. They let you assign whatever you want to the four buttons.

Not sure if mentioned but while buying this I saw they have this switch and a bulb combo for 47. Considering its 30+ for the globe I thought it was alright
