OP can you confirm expiry date? Wasn't this flavour discontinued 6 months ago?

    • Ice cream has a best before date and not a use by date.

    • Mine expire Jan 2020

    • +2

I agree, I think a lot of people like Matcha Flavour Ice-cream because it is not overly sweet, just something light to through the hot day, I hope Weis can make some Asian Flavours though, wouldn't that be nice

    • +11

I actually really like the Matcha flavour and was sad they discontinued it, I bought a lot of the packs as it was being cleared.

    • +2

Sorry, some people hate matcha, I love them to bit…so yea YMMV like everything else

      • +1

I like matcha ice cream, and I like connoisseur ice cream, but I don't like this ice cream. It was very disappointing, just too bland compared to decent matcha ice cream that I've had.

    • +4

I actually really like matcha flavor. Much better than the western flavors like cookie and cream, white chocolate berry, double chocolate. If it had stronger tea flavor like the ones u get from Asian grocery be even better.

      • It's a light ice-cream, not too sweet not too strong, just balanced right, Imagine you had a tough day at work, do you want to eat overly sweet ice-cream, the answer is probably no. I guess you can buy some matcha powder and make it at home.

      • +1

I like the matcha flavor in their tubs. For whatever reason their ice cream sticks (tried different flavors) seem far sweeter, making them inedible to me (not a sweet tooth).

      • I too would've liked a stronger tea flavour, but let's be honest, if they did that then most people would hate it and sales would plummet. I really dislike the trend of making everything overly sweet, but unfortunately that is what sells. It's a vicious cycle.

      • Yeah, if they'd gone all in and gave it more flavour it would have been better. As it is, meh.

    • +8

I think the biggest problem with this is this is like 1% close to what matcha flavour ice cream tastes like, it's horrible and the fact they added white chocolate to it ruined it. This version of matcha ice cream is a westernised version, it's pretty much the sweet and sour pork of japanese ice cream flavours.

  • If only it was one of the good flavours (that I assume cost the same to make for the manufacturer).

  • +10

I personally really like green tea ice cream and can’t get enough of it but the Connoiseur really messed up the way they made this flavour.

    • +7

Yeah, there's way too little green tea flavour, it's almost like vanilla with a hint of…something

      • +1

Honestly after eating enough of it, you realise that the ice cream might as well be vanilla since it doesn't have any defining taste to it at all…but its not vanilla

        • +1 as a matcha fanatic, this wasn't anything to get excited about.

  • -1

Most yucky flavour. Went straight in to bin on first trial

  • +14

I love this flavour. What a shame its getting a lot of hate

    • +3

I liked it too, I wonder if it was "too matcha" to be mainstream but not enough for the hardcore green-tea crowd.

    • +10

I love matcha in general. This ice cream tastes nothing like matcha, at all. Like others have said.
It's just sweetened ice cream. A shame.

I guess they were too scared the "Aussie palate" wouldn't like a proper matcha ice cream.

      This is a rubbish attempt.

If you like sweet ice cream you will probably like this.

      • So if they give it a different name, will your mob drop your pitchforks? :)

        • +2

They couldn't though. The 'connoisseur' brand was supposed to be premium ice-cream for established flavours
Can't claim to be a premium brand for a flavour people can't compare with

        • Personally, I'm not into sugary ice cream.

If I give you a different name, will you still be a Roman Emperor with a brain disorder? ;)

          • @nismo: I'll see if it works during cosplay with bae.

  • +1

Am I the only one getting triggered by that partially wet receipt??

Have never tried this. Would give it a go at $2.50 but never at full price.

    • +3

If there was a small tear in it at the wet part I would also be losing my mind.

  • +1

I lika dis a very matcha

BRING BACK THE PNB N PRETZEL GODDAMMIT!

eewww the tea is bad enough, couldn’t imagine eating an ice cream :/

    • I can’t stand having mint in chocolate. Let alone ice cream, feels like some form of punishment.

      • +1

        Basically feels like eating toothpaste.

        • Thanks, now i realise why I disliked mint ice cream

          • @yomama: Now to know to raise your kids on non-mint toothpaste so you don't ruin mint choc ice-cream for them

            • @[Deactivated]: Majority of toothpaste is mint-flavoured so the inevitable will happen.

              • @exit: Sentence your kid to 20 years of Sensodyne original, ezpz

  • +6

These should do a durian flavour ice-cream. If it's as good as their cookies and cream I would eat that everyday

  • Inedible taste of Japanese mache icecream made by non-Japanese ,

  • It's an end of life product, cannot find it pretty much at any woolworths now, the store you went to must of found a hidden batch in the fridge.

  • I love this stuff

  • As a matcha fan, this ice cream is too much on the sweet side. Would've been good if the sweetness is tempered with more matcha bitterness. That said, my sweet tastebud is too sensitive so it might taste OK for others with a sweet tooth. Koko Black Matcha Macadamia have the perfect balance for me.

  • Haven't seen this flavour for some time now, but like someone said it's probably a forgotten batch in the freezer, doubt it will be at my local woolies, will be keeping an eye out though!

  • I find matcha green tea connoisseur ice cream very tasty. It is also one of my family's favourite ice cream types. Really sad it is discontinued.

  • It's discontinued because it's not a good product.

It's easily too sweet, lack of real matcha flavour

Go get something from Japanese or Korean groceries. So much better

    • i mean its ice cream first and matcha second

      • It's the worst flavour in the range. Best is cookies and cream, Bulgarian Chocolate

        • You think it is the worst. For me it has the best flavour by far and I don't even like cookies and cream. So if some people don't like this flavour it does not mean it is bad. I tried matcha ice cream from Japanese groceries and still love connoisseur version of this ice cream. It is also much cheaper when on discount.

But obviously there is not enough demand for this ice cream to make production feasible. It is like ipad mini - some people like it but not enough to produce it.

  • +1

Matcha is not really meant to be sweet, and the flavour of the powder really must come through otherwise the product is no good.

I make my own matcha ice cream and yogurt. For people accustomed to the flavour it's very pleasant and appealing, but I recall making matcha ice cream and having Australian friends try it. Most recoiled at the flavour. It sounds like Connoisseur put in far too much sugar and too little powder into their product and it appeals to no one. Pity, as matcha is a standard flavour in many parts of Asia.

    • Why did someone downvote this? It is spot on the money..

    • Real matcha ice cream is ones you get in Japan when you visit. And this is no where near it.

It's sugary and not pleasant. There's no matcha flavour with this one

  • I love macha
