Moving Overseas, What Should I Do with My Month to Month Mobile Plan?

Looking for ideas on what to do with my mobile number? I'm moving overseas for about 12 months (at least).

Currently on a month to month plan with Jeenee Mobile ($25 for 8GB).

Go to a super low cost plan. (any suggestions?)

Just cancel the plan and get a new number. (not ideal)

Do you want to keep your number? If so, switch to prepaid or pay as you go with no expiry. You can also call your provider and ask if they can put account on hold for 12 months.

If you do not want to keep your number then cancel and move on.

Aldi's prepaid plan is $15 credit which expires after 365 days. $15 a year to keep your number isn't bad.

Amaysim is similar, but $10 credit lasts 365 days.

I used Amaysim PAYG to park my phone number.

I'm back in Oz one or twice a year so it works out well for me.

Plus it's $5 for the first year

    Cancel it.

    New number has its benefits

+1 for Amaysim or Aldi. Have been parking two numbers with their 365 days expiry PAYG.

  • Port Aussie number to Vodafone for $5 per day roaming. Then when in new country by local sim. Then switch Aussie Vodafone to a 12 month plan at no cost which effectively mothballs your Aussie number for 12 months.
