Looking for a Restaurant for a 70th Birthday in Melbourne

Hello I'm looking for suggestions for good restaurants to celebrate a 70th Birthday in Melbourne…. could be city, could be beachside, happy to travel a bit.

Of course I'm currently googling options but if you've had a good experience somewhere and would like to share please let me know. The 70 yo is a little traditional in menu tastes, so nothing too left of field.

It's only for a small gathering, thanks in advance.

  • Do you have an average price person? A cuisine in mind?

I can recommend anything from a 10 course set menu to $10 dumplings…

    • $50-$80 a head, Modern Aus or Italian probably safest bets for person in question.

        Tipo 00 has amazing pasta.

Trattoria Emilia has a range of Italian foods.

        Both have great wines.

  • Sofias in camberwell was pretty good when i was down in melb last year.

  • Happy birthday!

    • Ha! thanks, not mine.

Dominos pizza with the deal of the day from Maccas

  • If its good food or not, really comes down to the person eating it. With little details of tastes, budget etc, you're opening a can of worms.

If you can do lunch rather than dinner then I would recommend looking at Philippe's. It is in the Melbourne CBD. The lunchtime menu is really good value. Good traditional french food. Rotissiere chicken, steaks, etc. I would suggest you check it out for yourself first.

    Lunch Prix fixe menu

    2 courses 50
    3 courses 60

Served with your choice of a 250ml carafe of M. Chapoutier red or white, a draught beer of the month or a soft drink

For an evening meal I would suggest you look at Moat, it is under the state library.

    KFC Sunshine

  • Whats the budget and how many people. Organised a small lunch for sat 12 at the café in Albert Park. That was about $300 with drinks.

  • One of the Asian restaurants in St Albans. If you're lucky enough, you might land front row seats to the next interracial brawl.

  • My friend had her 21st birthday at Ajantha Indian Restaurant in Mill Park - if you're interested in heading into the northern suburbs. Their food was really great, drinks were cheap and food was really good too - plenty of food (entrée, mains and dessert). From memory i think it was $30.50 for the non-vegetarian set menu and $36 for the seafood set menu

  • Thanks guys some good suggestions (maybe not KFC Sunshine)…haha…..cheers
