How to Get a Rental Car While Car Is at The Crash Repairers ?

So, I got side-swipped/T-Boned yesterday and the other guy did a runner. I have dashcam footage and all (shows the driver racing in from my right and ramming my driver's door and doing a runner). I am not at fault and I have witnesses ready to corroborate. Car insurer and coppers have been notified of this accident. I have a woolies car insurance policy which doesn't include a rental car. The camry still moves and am waiting for woolies to tell me what to do next. My questions is, does any one know how I could get a rental car while my car goes in for repairs ? My car insurance doesn't cover it. The other guy did a runner so I don't know if his insurance covers it.

Usually, does a house & content or mastercard/visa or a toyota road side assist come with a rental car cover thing ? Has anyone used https://www.notmyfault.com.au/ and can say yay or nay ? Any suggestions please ? Its my first accident. What a start to the new year!

My guess would be, no. I doubt he even has insurance.

Not in this case. Your insurance is not obligated to provide you with a rental car if you didn't choose the option. The only other option would be to pursue the at fault party. Even then you'd need to pay first and chase the other party (or their insurance) for reimbursement.

  • Was the other car registered/stolen/borrowed…

  • Your dash cam recorded the drivers door impact? Didn’t know they faced the side like that.

  • a cheap insurance policy like woolworths is exactly that, unless the police find the driver (don't hold your breath that they will anytime soon) you are out of luck.

Be careful with these hire car mobs
If they cannot recover their loaded up fees from the at fault party
The onus falls back onto you

    I believe anyway

https://itwasntmyfault.com.au/ —> used this, as long as you are sure it was not your fault, the guy will deliver the car to you and pick it up when you done FREE. They will pursue the cost to the other party's insurance.

  • None of the "not at fault" rental companies will give you a rental car - they all work on the basis that the other party is a) insured and b) at fault, so that they are (almost) guaranteed recovery of their rental costs.

I think one of them (might be right2drive) may give you a couple of days (where they will try to establish fault & insurer) but will ask for the car back if they can't establish the other party is at fault and insured.
