Great value. The thing about a bad haircut is that if you wait a month, the problem naturally solves itself.

    • -3

No it doesn't. You'll just have shitty longer hair…

  • +1

wow..even the normal price also cheaper than others.

  • +1

If you only have one kid, and put them up front, and not happy with their result and bail before your own, how much would you have to pay?

    • -2

      $5

      • It's prepaid. So you will be paying $10 upfront.

  • +1

You go first, and report back how you go :)

I just had a haircut with my child. We needed a little clean-up as we had a haircut not so long ago. Other than English I didn't see any issues. I think even for $10/haircut it isn't bad.

Myself and my son have our hair cut at a $10 place in Brisbane. They do a good job and are on par with most of the people who cut hair in the bigger name places in expensive rent shopping areas. The main difference I see is they cut your hair in ~10 mins and don't have a 30 min chat.

      • Talk is cheap!

      • my mate has a guy he goes to that is in the back of a $2 shop somewhere near St. Kilda. Costs $10 and it's even BYO so he takes a few beers. My mates last guy was Dr. Follicle that was like $45 with beer included.

This is what has been missing from ozbargain for ages. A real bargain. Thanks for bringing the bargain back to ozbargain op.

  • +2

    Thanks for the math!

May be try on kids first

Yes and in 20 years you'll have a visit from some Lawyers suing you for pain and suffering….

  • Pretty skilled for one hairdresser to cut two heads at once ;)

    • I thought butchers cut heads not hairdressers. That's scary

    • No Edward Scissorhand joke so far?

  • "May be try on kids first ;)"
    hahaha.

  • +2

Is there any possible way we can believe the hairdresser is earning at least the legal minimum wage?

    • +3

That's a good point. I would negotiate down to $5 for 2 haircuts.

    • If the barber is self employed (e.g. small business owner), then minimum wage laws don't apply.

      • So it's just the one barber there all the time working by themselves?

        • -1

No idea. There could be several "owners" of the business working together.

Note that I'm not commenting on the ethics of paying $5 for a hair cut, just pointing out that the barber might not be an 'employee'. This is similar to freelancers, taxi drivers, and those participating in the sharing economy (e.g. uber, etc.) are not considered 'employees' by the companies they provide services to / through.

        • No, there were 3 barbers there today. 2 females and a male.

  • I need to see results of said deal

  • Normal price is $10. I understand it’s a low income area but geez they must have got a good deal on rent.

I pay nearly $40 bucks now just for a men’s cut.

    • +4

Just a hair cut or did you get pampered?

      • +10

Probably with a blow job. Cut, wash and blow job. Blow jobs aren't cheap you know.

    • Lol. Low income. Yet go to the”barber” located few shops away who charge $40 odd and it’s always packed

    • low-income suburbs? lol, do your research about Wyndham area 3030, 3029, 3027 postcode (williams landing, point cook, werribee south, etc)

  • +4

Has anyone done the maths to verify the OP's calculation of $5 per hair cut?

    • +1

Surely if there is anyone that can solve the puzzle it is the infamous Guybrush Threepwood

      • +1

How appropriate, you fight like a cow.

    • +2

I'm still halfway through the free Udemy calculus course, will report back in 6 weeks

    • No way, too hard.

  • +2

Almost worth the trip from Tassie

  • On this note anyone know a best value barber in Melbourne?

    • What's your budget and area you live in?

    • +4

      DIY

      • Or maybe pair up with some like-minded person and cut each other's hair.

    • There's a few places in Sunshine that will do a haircut for $10. I go there and haven't had anything terrible.

    • my mate goes to a guy in the back of a $2 shop somewhere near St. Kilda. its $10 a cut but its BYO beer. his last guy charged $45 a cut with beer included.

  • Do anyone now opening timing ?

    • +1

I believe they are the same as werribee Pacific timings.

  • +1

Passed this last week. Good luck queueing :D

    • When I went pass all 3 of the barbers were on their phones with no customers.

  • Can I do one now and come back in a couple months for the second one?

  • 2 for S10? Which head r we cutting?

  • true OZBers cut their hairs using scissors and mirrors

  • +1

Visit the Korean dude with the wig shop at Springvale for $5 haircuts every day. Then treat yourself to a banh Mi downstairs after

    • +3

      Mind share the address?

      • +1

        https://g.co/kgs/aJxt47

That's the one I think, mind you I haven't been in a couple of years so I hope he's still doing them.
The hairdresser downstairs is better I find, but cost 10 bucks.

  • +1

If you are in Sydney, the hairdresser just outside of Westfield Hurstville is $7 (for men) everyday. Alas, $10 for the ladies.

  • +2

Nothing wrong with cheap haircut. The place I go to charges $10. The main difference is that he is quick, doesnt spend 3/4 of the time talking like the previous one I used to go to.

  • -1

    *Werribee Plaza

Last time I went to a just cuts my sister was watching them cut my hair and she stopped them half way through telling them they were doing a horrible job and got me to walk out and go to another hairdresser. Might be ok for kids, but don't expect much from these guys (and the example I am talking I wasn't expecting much at all!)

  • +1

A number 1 all over is it?

  • $1 a minute.

  • Theirs a few places in Springvale that charge $8 as the standard price.

  • Great if only I had 2 heads to take full advantage

    • +2

Maybe you can organise someone from here who wants $5 haircut to come with you.
Flip a coin for who goes first seems fair, if unsure if will be OK with resulting cut.

  • +1

I think I’ll get my next two haircuts done at the same time to save money. Thanks OP!

  • Sent my 21 and 23 year old down there today - after the Asian girl said whoops when shaving the back he said just finish the back I dont need the top done hahaha
