Am I Addicted to OzBargain? I Need Help

I would like some advice on whether I have an addiction and if I need to do something about it.
To start with, I love bargains. Might be the biggest lover of them here. I must check ozbargain at least once an hour. When I wake up I pick up my phone and open ozbargain. When I’m trying to go to sleep I open ozbargain. I’ve even woken up mid way through the night and do a quick ozbargain check.

Despite all this ozbargaining I hardly even buy anything. I still somehow miss out on a good deal but even when there is a good deal I just like to see it and read about it. I don’t like buying it but I love the fact that it is a bargain. And sometimes I just have this drive to seek out the biggest bargain.
Does anyone else feel like this?
Is this an addiction?
Is anyone else more addicted than this?
Does anyone have any ideas how I can curb by addiction?

No bargains listed in the OPs post, where are the bargains??

  • I see a lot of checking but not a lot of posting bargains

  • You need to eat a Snickers.

  • Force yourself to use choice cheapies and you'll be able to curb it

I have OzBargain as the default on everything. Phones, computers, TV… car, mirror! Despite not being a big spender I can't risk missing a deal ever.

  • How many headphones do you have?

Also, how many Eneloops and Xiaomi items do you have?
My family and friends think I'm addicted. I do check many times during the day. First thing I do in the morning and last thing before sleeping too.

If this is a troll/joke, you got me. Here's a serious answer.

We can't tell you if you're addicted, if it's too much, or if you need to quit (though generally, moderation is better).

But here are some things to think about regarding addiction:

    • Is it just ozbargain, are you checking other sites frequently?
    • Prior to checking ozbargain every hour, what did you used to do with that time?
    • Other than your sleep, are you neglecting any other areas of your life Is checking ozbargain affecting other areas of your life?

From the limited information you've given us, it sounds to me like something else is bothering you, and checking ozbargain frequently is a symptom.
I don't imagine it's possible for a you to be waking up just to check ozbargain, and suspect that perhaps something else is causing you to wake up, and you're just checking ozbargain at that time either out of habit/conditioning, or to distract yourself from whatever is really bothering you.

Here are some more general questions which you might want to ask yourself:
    - The more general questions Are you getting enough exercise during the day?
    - Do you have a reasonably healthy, balanced diet?
    - Are you satisfied with your job and the relationships in your life?

Don't worry about how often other people are using the site or how other people feel.

Real question is, do you have stack of Eneloops? If not, you are definitely NOT addicted

OzB is my social media of choice. #WhatsFacebook

I'd say you're exhibiting some disturbing signs, like the "checking in the middle of the night" that are of concern. But like someone said above, that is most likely being caused by some other deeper issue. if you are in fact waking up in the middle of night from fear of missing a deal, then yes, that's too far and you need help to work on your addition.

otherwise, we're all OzB addicts and are checking the page multiple times a day even if we aren't buying anything.

I blame scotty, he's turned us all into addicts!

  • Im constantly browsing the bargains and I don't have anything I want to buy. I've bought it all (at great prices too).

Now the browsing is just another way of feeling satisfied with what I have. If I don't want any of this stuff, my liberation from consumerism is complete.

  • So I have checked my usage on the new Digital Wellbeing thing on Android. Did dome quick calculations and over the past 14 days I've opened ozbargain (more specifically the browser I only use for ozbargain) on average 127 times a day. Can probably multiply that number by 5 or so for the number of times I refresh.

Average screen time per day is 1 hour, 31 minutes and 47 seconds…

    :/
