The Muscle Milk is much better value. I bought some a couple weeks ago for $48 BOGOF, that’s for 4.5kg.

    • Where from @bypass. What bogof?

      • Check costco catalogue..

    • How's taste? Does it clump? Never tried it..

        Gold Standard is awesome
No problems at all. Chocolate milk flavour is amazing, like drinking Milo

        • Haha sorry I meant the muscle milk. Personally love ON but it's pricey

          • @Kaise: yeh need another amazon deal!!!

    • +3

$48 for 4.5KG, or ends up being equivalent of $48 per 2.25KG tub?
Muscle Milk only has 47% protein, whereas the ON is 79%.

    • +1

Check the protein per 100. It is a lot lower than the ON

Muscle milk is half sugar, a complete waste of money - go buy packets of Tim Tams instead.

Muscle Milk might be cheaper, but keep in mind the serving size is 2 scoops as opposed to 1. MuscleMilk has 47.3g of protein per 100g, ON Gold Standard Whey has 74.1g per 100g.

      https://labdoor.com/review/cytosport-muscle-milk-naturals/re…

MuscleMilk also only has 39% of it's calories come from protein content - the majority come from carbs(sugar) and fat. It's exactly what you don't want in a protein shake.

On the other hand, ON Gold Standard is 76% of its calories come from protein.

      • Muscle Milk is $10.90/kg while Gold Standard is $27.70/kg which is a significant difference in price.
I usually have a whey protein after a workout, but I might have MM pre workout, before bed or if I'm feeling hungry. It tastes much better with water than ON and fills you up more.

Also according to the Nutritional Info vanilla MM has 3.3g of sugar and choc ON has 1g per serve. Not huge

        • The price difference becomes a lot less once you standardise for protein content. Plus, 10.90/kg certainly isn't standard price for MuscleMilk. That's like half price.

Also according to the Nutritional Info vanilla MM has 3.3g of sugar and choc ON has 1g per serve. Not huge

No. It's 6g per serve. It's 3g per scoop, but a serve is 2 scoops. It's also got 6g of fat per serve.

ON serving is a single scoop, 1g of sugar and 1g of fat per serve. Significantly lower.

MuscleMilk is full of sugar and fat, that's why it tastes better. It's only 39% protein by calories.

The whole appeal of ON gold standard is that it's a very lean protein, one of the leanest. It makes it very effective to boost protein intake for the day, without injesting too many calories. You could have roughly 2 serves of ON for the same amount of calories as a single serve of MuscleMilk.

          • @Harold Halfprice: Good write up ILB.

PEOPLE: You're buying PROTEIN! Look at what's in the product and find the one with the most PROTEIN. Fillers are insanely cheap - got to Woolies and buy a kilo of dextrose, that's literally what the fillers are - it's $2/kg and that's on the consumers end. Wholesale would be $0.05/kg!!!!!!!!

            BUY PROTEIN, (profanity) FILLERS.

          • +1

@Harold Halfprice: You must read of read the Nutritional Info wrong or have an old bottle. 3.3g per serve(54g) and 6.2g per 100g for MM compared to 1.2g per serve(30.4) and 3.9g per 100g for ON.

Sounding like the additives you don't need bingo…

Good deal, but plenty of online protein powder companies with better deals. VPA and Bulk Nutrients usually have 5kg of WPC for under $100
