While buying a bottle of water for $1.99 at the airport duty free shop. I noticed that the receipt has an advertisement for up to 10% off your next duty free purchase. This could be useful if you want to buy any alcohol or perfumes. You need to first join their free membership program.

This has been there for a while, my friends always do this if they have to buy anything at the airport.
It is on and off though, sometime there is no 10%.

Different airports have different duty free operators, with different loyalty programs. Buying alcohol etc can be cheaper at some destinations than buying here duty free with discount!

From my previous experience you don't need to join anything for a discount. Just give them the receipt and scan the code. Sure it's clearly a ploy to get you to buy something else. Maybe not a 10% discount but A discount is a discount if you are thirsty and want to buy a something from the airport duty free.
Everything is so expensive though
