Yep the SA and WA stores have been incorporated into IKEA nation wide.

  • This looks like a decent drawer unit for our storeroom, in addition to some open shelving etc.

Yay I can finally down-vote stupid comments today!

Comment probably sent from their Chinese built smartphone or PC…

Perhaps you missed that this deal is from Ikea? You make it at home using an Allen Key!

      • I suggest you check the website. Items are DESIGNED in Sweden. Made in China, or nearby.

    • Why the down votes to this comment?

      As per Forbes

"While most of the designs of IKEA products are made in Sweden, manufacturing has been outsourced to China and other Asian countries."

  • Only the white one is on sale :(

  • I can never understand why it's more expensive to collect the item compared to delivery.
$20 to collect, $10 to deliver. But I can't really complain since $10 for delivery is pretty good.

    • It’s not online only is it

      • No, I'm pretty sure you could go into the store and pick one up for this price.

Why isn't this covered under parcel delivery in WA metro? The dimensions fall within their parcel limits but it's not showing it as an option. Only home delivery at $49 ie 100% of the sale price

There are plenty of these in stock at Ikea Perth. Surely it's not that far to drive/bus/train to Ikea to get one?

        • Well that comes down to personal preference. Personally, I wouldn't even consider a 2 hour expedition via bus which included lugging a box with me on the return journey. But go for your life. My point is, the packaged dimensions fit within the parcel delivery limits so i can't tell why it's not available.

          • @kel0402: Fair enough. I forget that Perth is so sprawled out. I was just saying if you wanted to save the $49 that Ikea wasn't that far from most suburbs.

On another note, had a look at these yesterday as considering popping one in the library, and they are pretty flimsy.
Drawers don't run smoothly, and they aren't very stable.
Also, from the thickness of the sheet metal used, I would be a bit dubious about sending these parcel post, given the box they come in isn't exactly robust.

I asked a team member about postal options and they said they will only deliver it via courier due to it being over 10kg. (I did point out Auspost was 22kg, and up to 1m long…)

            Cheers.

EDIT: I have been told a method that may work for discounted shipping. PM me and I'll give you details.

  • Thanks OP - picked up a few - and made the most of the $9 delivery

Drawers are very narrow - but will suit my use-case.

Won't get one myself as I prefer small items on open display, rather than hidden.
But that said, I've seen these popular on pinterest as makeup organizers.
And this 'cupboard' type of hack is decent https://www.ikeahackers.net/2014/10/a-helmer-lekman-cupboard…

I think you might be getting mixed up with the Alex drawers. These are made of steel, so one could probably wake up the entire family getting ready in the morning.

I'll be getting them anyway, but lining the bottom with some paper maybe

No, they are the Helmer drawers. The Alex drawers have a scalloped drawer front and no handle.

        Either way, pretty hideous.

      • +1

You're right actually. It's the "Alex" that gets used for make-up. My bad, thanks for the correction.
These ("Helmers") still do have pretty shallow trays, so the size would still be about right.
I've just looked the helmer up on pinterest and they seem popular for nail polish hoarders. (Note: nail polish should be used within 2 years from opening. No idea how the pinterest girls go through so much.)

        • uh oh. nailpolish you say…

        • lol. I am still using a 3yr old bottle of nail polish…

To dab on paint scratches on my car.

These are seriously crap. Spend ages building them only for them to fall apart.

      Isn’t that IKEA in general?

  • almost hit click and collect till i see this $20 to collect, $10 to deliver,

  • in TAS !? no deal!

  • Those label holders are a brilliant idea.
Drawer 1 - socks (and secret stuff)
    Drawer 2 - jocks
    Drawer 3 - t-shirts
    Drawer 4 - shorts
    Drawer 5 - boardies
    Drawer 6 - hoodies

Wait - no drawer for PJs. What to do ?

    • I mean, do you swim as often as you sleep?

Bought 6 to make the most of the $9 delivery.

    • I purchased four online - and they got delivered by Toll on Friday. They came in 4 large boxes roughly 90x90x25, each of which contained another protective box, and finally within that the actual 76x43x7 cm product packaging. I literally filled two wheelie bins full of cardboard and excess packaging materials. The drawers themselves are ok - I wish I had paid more attention to them being made of flimsy steel, and lacking any rollers for the drawers. It took close to 2 hours to create all 4 drawers, and 20 minutes getting the packaging in to the bin.
