Whipper Snipper

I'm clueless on whipper snippers. After a bargain on a whipper snipper for average size block. Petrol or electric, no preference as long as it cuts grass well.

Was just going to go $99 one at bunnings, thoughts or suggestions?

  • Devices at that price level are usually underpowered. What are you intending to cut with it?

  • I'd advise against going for really cheap ones. The electric ones will struggle to cut certai ngrass types, and cheap petrol ones are difficult to start. I curse myself for buying a cheaper Ryobi one every time I need to use it, and it takes ages to get it started.

  • Bought an electric one from Bunnings last year, works well. Use it to trim all the edges, into the flower beds, and the cracks of the sidewalk. Depends on what you are planning on using it for I suppose?

    A downside is that with the electric one you will need a decent extension cord.

    • Exactly the same as you really. Edges and flower beds. No footpath so no cracks.

      • Personally, I got the $99 Ryobi Trimmer and works for me. I haven't tried any others so can't give an accurate comparison to petrol ones.

  • A good price on a Honda could still be considered a bargain! Hard to go past their 4-stroke equipment in terms of ease of use, power and build quality. You do have to pay more for it though…

  • Petrol = Honda
    Electric = Ego

  • Stihl or Echo

  • They had a deal at Bunnings which may have now all sold out (was one the last 2 days) for an Ozito electric whipper snipper for only $29!!! They sold quick but would be handy if you only have a small area and not excessive scrub it would be a good deal
