Every family member I know has one of these.
Million times better than the crappy ones the car manufacturers curse you with.

  • …good price. i bought the red rubber coated one for about $19 couple months back

    • +3

Most places will rotate for you when you get a service anyway though.
Rotating your own tyres is a pain in the ass.

      • +5

I never realised how long it actually takes to swap around 4 tyres until I spent all day doing it in my driveway 😑

        • +7

          all day?

if you only have one jack, the quickest is to jack corner "1", remove wheel "1" and put spare in its place, lower and then raise corner "2". remove wheel "2", put on wheel "1" and repeat until back at the start by removing spare and putting wheel "4" in it's place (or best is to use all 5 if they are same tread wear. it means only corner "1" was jacked twice, each other was once.

@Nugs: All day may have been a slight exaggeration… still, much longer than I had assumed it would take.
Gets fairly tyring - I also don't have a spare which makes life more difficult

  • Is this a viable alternative to a torque wrench? Or is it better to torque wheel nuts to a specification?

    • +1

It's always best to torque the wheel nuts to specification. However, if you can't afford a torque wrench or one is not available this will be sufficient.

    • +2

You shouldnt undo nuts with a torque wrench.
So this tool is good for the undoing part and the torque is good for the doing up part.
Personally I have a breaker bar, far more easier then this tool on really stubborn nuts.

      • Thanks for the info. Is a breaker bar as cheap as this?

        • +1

Breaker will cost more plus you need sockets to fit on the wheel nut which are probably like 17-22mm a bit bigger than standard size.

        • +1

No they're not as cheap but they'll not break the bank either. It's the socket set that costs the money though you can just get one to exactly fit the wheel nut if you don't want to spend the money on a set. Personally, screwdrivers and socket sets are one area you don't want to cheap out on because you end up forever replacing them which adds up over time ultimately costing you more than a single high quality set.

          • @Trickey: I purchased the Stanley 1/2” drive set that was on here a while ago. Looks great quality!

            • +1

@iShibby: You actually received the 1/2" instead of ending up with 3/4" like everyone else?

              • @ssquid: Yep fantastic deal for a set worth $110 for $30!

  • +3

I keep mine ready under the drivers seat.

  • +1

Better than the horrible ones that come with the car. Along with those atrocious scissor jacks.

    • +2

You should see the 'L' shaped one with a plastic mount my old BMW had on it - safety rating 0/10

    • Agree scissor jacks are generally pretty bad but in limited spaces (eg a breakdown lane) they can be your only option. Nothing beats a trolley jack and a breaker bar.

"Nothing beats a trolley jack and a breaker bar"

        trunk monkey?
        .

        • Still waiting on a good trunk monkey deal!

  • 30 mins for click and collect. Does anyone know if I can pick it up the next day?

    • IIRC you have 7 days to collect.
I routinely collect a day or so later
      .

      • Thanks for the info! Will order then (:

      • +1

I have collected it a month later as well with no issues.

    • That means you can collect it within 30 minutes, not you have 30 minutes to pick it up.

I use this wrench extension. Much better than the one supplied with the car and takes up less space than the wheel brace in this deal. I bought it a few years ago for $12-15 when on sale. Can be used as a breaker bar with other socket sizes for other applications.

Also useful for road side negotiations with other bad drivers?

  • +1

These break 100ft/lb tight wheel nuts easy. However, they can't replace a long breaker bar if you got really stuck wheel nuts. If no one else (people with 500ft/lb impact guns) touch your wheels, these are great and convenient. What I like about it than using a ratchet to undo wheel nuts if that you can spin this thing real easy.

    • +1

Lol made me think of Tim the toolman tighten bolts down lol.

      • grunting noises

  • Thanks OP, grabbed one. Much better than what comes with the car

  • just bought one. thx

  • I paid $7.42 for this exact same brace from Supercheap last July. This ain't no bargain.

    • Did you also buy this for $29.32 before it went on sale for $29.89?

      • If I did, why would I have made a post confirming it was $29.89?

My point was the regular price of this brace used to be less than this sale price.

I guess you could say it now comes with a free jack… a pricejack.
