THANKS! I'm starting my own oil retailing business and this comes in handy. I'm up to 40 litres already!

(Actually just do alot of delivery driving)

  • How does this compare to Castrol Edge or Nulon Fully Synthetic?

    • this is better according to bob oil guy

    • Compare to what what now?

What's Castrol Edge? Is it like the Redbull of motor oils or something?

I've got bottles and bottles of Helix Ultra flowing out of my garage. Not because it's cheap, but because I truly believe it's the best. I run my car hard and need the ultimate protection.

@placard Shell Helix Ultra is one of the best oils you can get. Leagues better than Castrol and Nulon.

The base oil is used by Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche, SRT and Hennessey performance plus many more.

  • The manual on my car says I need 5W-20. Is it to do with the viscosity of the oil? I should stick with the recommended oil I suppose.

    • +1

Stick with the recommended viscosity to retain fuel economy figures. 5W-20 sounds like a hybrid car?

    • +1

Definitely stick with 5W-20, the oil on offer is twice as thick at 100 degrees (well as per the standard).

    • Thanks guys, it’s a Dodge Journey. Sounds like 5W-20 is a specialist oil? Not many bargains around 😞

      • This is probably one of the best oils you can buy retail.

Appart from a very minor petrol consumption increase this oil is perfectly fine for your Dodge.

        • You could damage the oil pump. Maybe can get away with 5W-30 (which is a very common oil for new cars).

        • Increased petrol consumption!? This 3.6l V6 already drinks fuel

        Dodge Journey

Ouch. It probably won’t matter what oil you use. I wish you luck

  • Honda Jazz 1.3 Vtec calls for 5-W30, would using this 5-w40 be considered cheating?

  • Is this oil good for Corolla hatch?

    • Second this

      • this would be fine to use for summer.

        winter i would go to a 5W30

  • might need to drop my oil lol

  • This looks pretty good. Thanks OP

  • Got given $12 credit after buying so many bottles somehow… didn't apply it to the last order. So bought another! I now have enough imported oil filters and Helix Ultra to do seven oil changes (lasting me about two years). $400 saving right there alone!

  • Just wondering if the oils on sale like these have passed or near their shelf life? My mechanic says that oil colour is darker (i purchased one in sales previously) than the oil that is fresh. Means according to him, expired or near expiry oils are paler while the fresh ones are transparent like water. He was talking about fully synthetic oils.

    Any comments?

    • one of my mates who builds diesel engines says 3-5 years from the date on the bottle when the oil stars to go bad.
~ But Could just be better cleaning ability why its darker~

    • just picked up mine April 2018 manufacture date so definitely not old stock.

    • I was given a couple of 2016 bottles when the ultra deals started coming through but I check the bottles I have and always give the oldest to the mechanic to swap in first. That being said, I can do 1000km's a week so… they get swapped every 10k. But it's generally 2018 stock coming through now

  • No signs instore about this and the staff had no idea either, but it rang up at the bargain price on the register.
