I was searching for a good deal for UE MegaBoom 3 for quite some time now as I missed the previous deals. I'm not affiliated so I don't know stock levels nor if it has expiry.

  • Looks like they didn't have too many in stock to sell as can't add to cart anymore.

  • +1

Yep they have pulled it and only listing the one from Kogan now which is $313.83.

Good price but I wouldn't recommend this speaker. I ordered from the last eBay deal and was very disappointed with the sound quality - nowhere near as good as my Bose SoundLink Mini which is like 4 years old. I'll be returning it and looking out for something else.

    • Why are you getting downvoted?

      • +1

        No idea - UE fanboys?

        • +2

Don't have experience with the soundlink or know how it compares price wise, but if you picked this up for about $110 from a previous deal like myself I would say for the money the speaker is more than acceptable quality. It's a bit trebly and definitely requires a custom equalizer setting to get better sound out of it.

But for a waterproof lightweight portable speaker at the sub $160 mark, I don't think there is much that compares, I will concede it's not worth the retail price at all though.

@yacman: Are you referring to the Heineken deal? That was a good one, like the other way around, buy a speaker with free drinks.

            • +2

@ledifni: Yes! that deal made this speaker worth it, plus Beer always makes a deal sweeter haha

      • Wolfpack.

Have the original megaboom and sound quality is fantastic. No reason why megaboom 3 should disappoint … maybe check the quality of the audio files and EQ settings?

    • +1

True. Sound quality isn’t as good but you have to expect some degradations considering the Megaboom is waterproof. The Soundlink would probably break from a metre drop. The UE range are tough as nails.

    • 100% agree. Total disappointment

    • If you're just after good sound with portability have a look at the Harman Kardon OMNI series. They're being slashed at the moment for around US$79.

Sound quality is generally rated at higher than a Sonos One equivalent - and also higher than the UE I'd assume. They are a little larger than this UE unit.

      Good luck.

  • Damn, out of stock in 10 mins, that sucks

  • +1

Was just able to make a purchase so it would be worth just checking it every so often just in case someone cancels their order or Amazon finds some stock.

  • It looks like it was $147 2 days ago. Hope they restock soon.

    • Sure your not looking at a Boom 3 instead of a megaboom 3?

      • Sure am. Though I'm not sure if they know if they have their price/item right. I'll know once it's delivered. Current order is "Megaboom 3".

  • +2

Perfect. Now I'll be able to behave like a local on my train commute

  • I'm looking for a deal for a bluetooth speaker. If anyone has any suggestions, please.

    • As I mentioned above, have a look at the Harman Kardon Omni series. Link below.

I've been meaning to pull the trigger on these as they've recently updated their product line with something which costs $2499 for the front two speakers (I think they're trying to go down B&O way).

Have a look at the sound/reviews on Youtube and you'll see they're excellent.

      • Mixed review on that one.

There's also this thing: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/432935 seems to have good reviews. Don't really like the design though. I need something a bit less delicate I suppose.

    • I think there's an Altec Lansing deal from Big W if you prefer less than $40.

      • Can't check stock online :(

      • Managed to get the last one on hold at a BigW next to my house.

Called 5 minutes before the store closed. :)
