[PC] Assassin's Creed Odyssey $41.80 AU + $1.90 AU Cashback @ Humble Bundle

120

It's one of the best reviewed Assassin's Creed games for a while (best since Brotherhood according to Metacritic): https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/assassins-creed-odyssey

You'll get a code for UPlay.

I believe this is the cheapest it has been.

Awesome game, decent price. Shame about Uplay.

    • Really?

I thought it was like every other recent Ubisoft game although the virtue signalling so that Polygon fawned all over it reached an all time puke inducing high.

It was priceless to see them screw it all up by having lesbians and gay men "grow up and have kids" yesterday though, I actually laughed out loud.

You should see the staff at Ubisoft. It’s nearly all sjw’s

Apologies, I realised I had the price wrong as it was already including my Humble Monthly discount. The price is $41.80 with $1.90 cashback; with Humble Monthly it's $37.62 with $1.90 cashback.

  • IIRC it was $36 during the christmas sales on Uplay if you use the 20% off coupon from points. Still a good price here.

  • uplay.. mehh

    upvoted anyway!

Rare to say this about a modern game but it's just too damn long!

30 hours in and some of the (mandatory) side missions are just dragging, and I haven't even seen half the map.

Good value if you enjoy that sort of thing though.

The game was designed to be half as long. Then they doubled it and added a 50% XP boost microtransaction.

      • +1

So they merely doubled it by creating new story lines, new dialogue, new voice acted lines, new areas, and rewards all at the last moment? No, it wasn't designed to be half as long, it was designed to be this long and that is how you got it.

        • -3

Sadly it's this level of naivety that has allowed microtransactions to flourish.

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: How are microtransactions to 'blame' for this game getting more quests, stories, dialogue, voice acting and areas included in the base game???

            • -3

@CarbonTwelve: The very existence of a paid-for 50% XP boost renders your question moot. What's bullshit is that this is normal now and people actually defend it.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: No, it doesn't render it moot. If the game was artificially elongated with grinding & XP farming, and the paid-for XP boost introduced to compensate, then sure, I'd agree. But extra content with story, dialogue, voice acting, new areas, etc. are not obstacles to overcome with microtransactions. If anything, they're the exact opposite - people would complain (and often have complained) of the base game being sliced off into DLC for exactly the same content that you're complaining they've included in the base game.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: I don't think you know what you are writing about.

You state the game was designed to be half as long, it wasn't, it was designed to be as long as it is. You cannot double the content of a game like Assassin's Creed Odyssey on a whim, it was designed to be that length as AAA games like that take years to develop, they made the decision in the designing phase to make it long and to have micro transactions.

Voice acted unique stories, is not the same as the randomly created message board quests the game also features, such as 'Destroy 5 ships'.

    • Yeah, I like the main game story, the scenery and the combat, but the compulsory boring side quests to level up and gain new items is tedious. How many times do I have to swap armor and weapons in this game?

Perhaps not the cheapest. Waiting on my free Uplay copy from this deal:

Awesome game, best one since the first 2 IMO. Just need a good deal on the season pass / expansions as I only have the base game (from the Samsung SSD deal thanks to OZB!)

  • I'll ask the obligatory question:

Don't need to play origins to fully enjoy odyssey right ?

Never played assassin's Creed but I've read that odyssey is more rpg now. Wondering if it will scratch my Witcher 3 itch…

    • +1

Odyssey imo is a greatly improved version of origins except in greek world.

It is more rpg like, like Merlict above says, can get a touch grindy at times, as it is a huge world and they looked like they needed/wanted some filler.

Dont need to play origins at all.

    • It's certainly more Witcher than it is AC. Stealth has been pretty much squashed.. No double assassinations either. 😕

Apart from that it's fun, just a lot more straight up combat than before.

  • MALAKA!

  • If you have 100 Uplay gold on Uplay you can get it for $35.97
