A Good USB-C Wall Charger (and Powerbank?) for My Nintendo Switch and My Xiaomi Mi 8?

Hi there,

I recently switched phones from a micro-USB to a USB-C and I've already been looking for a good secondary wall charger for my Nintendo Switch.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any good wall chargers and/or powerbanks that could charge both my Switch and my Xiaomi Mi 8 without damaging either?

I'm a bit clueless when it comes to the power measurements so I'm hoping some of you out there are able to help me out. :)

Thanks!

EDIT:

For the wall charger I'm looking at getting either the Blitzwolf S11 or the Anker multiport.

For the powerbank I ended up getting Xiaomi ZMI QB815

  • Anker or Aukey are well known for high quality chargers. Can't recommend the 20000 mAh portable charger enough. The new version has USB-C

    • Hey thanks for the suggestion. I'm unsure of the power/voltage difference between my 2 devices so is this something that would be safe for both? https://www.amazon.com.au/Anker-20000Mah-Portable-Charger-Po…

      Switch: 4310mAh
      Xiaomi Mi 8: 3400mAh

      • You want to get one with USB-C PD output, the one you linked has only USB-C input so won't be able to fast charge your switch. Anker and Aukey wall chargers are pretty good quality, otherwise you can always get a genuine Nintendo charger or Xiaomi charger as back up.

The USB-C PD chargers are typically backward compatible (charger and device communicate to negotiate the optimal charging speed) so you can safely use a Xiaomi Laptop's 65W charger and it won't accidentally damaging the device.

A cheap alternative is Blitzwolf SW10 charger which can be had for $15, just gotta factor in the shipping time is all

        • Thanks for the advice! :)
Checking out quite a few of the Anker wall chargers on Amazon, any in particular you could recommend in this case?

Also I couldn't find the Blitzwolf SW10 charger in any marketplaces so any similar cheap alternative would be great!

  • Like what others have said, you'll want USB-PD. There tends to be sales on chargers from Blitzwolf or Tronsmart around here all the time. The Xiaomi Mi 8 will be pretty easy to charge, so I don't think you'll have any issues.

You might want to read up a bit on how the Switch actually charges: https://switchchargers.com/how-it-works/

Basically if you're just looking to charge your Switch, then it's no big deal, but don't try and run your dock through any chargers that might be below spec (or any non-Nintendo charger really).

If you want a head-ache free option, then maybe just get a genuine Nintendo charger for the Switch, which is around $30. Of course, it'll charge your Mi 8 fine and it'll be the fastest way to charge your Switch. Since you're probably going to pay $15 - $20 for a good USB-C charger anyway, this might not be a bad option.

    • Hey thanks for the heads up, I did read around on switchchargers.com to make sure I was playing it safe. Mostly Melbourne was able to provide me some good suggestions, e.g. Blitzwolf S11, which may simply be a better option for me than a secondary Switch charger.

  • I have a cygnett charge up pro 20,000 that claims to support nintendo switch rapid charging on the box maybe you want to give that a try? Aside from USBC PD it also supports qualcomm quick charge so that should fast charge your phone too. It’s a bit on the pricey side though, I bought it on boxing day for $100 but theyre between 120-150$ now.

    • Thanks for the suggestion, it seems like a great product but I may look for a cheaper alternative. :)

  • +2

Anker has a hybrid powerbank & wall charger but it comes only in 5000mah

Otherwise you can look up some Chinese websites that're selling the newer larger capacity one.
