I'll just take this opportunity to say how much I hate it when a new small-to-medium supermarket opens and it's an IGA (aka Metcash).

For some strange reason, Kingsford NSW is surrounded by carless students (and abandoned trolleys) but just can't seem to get one of the cheap 3 to open at least a metro store in the area. UNSW's lower campus finally gets a supermarket and it's an IGA. And the countless Asian supermarkets in the area stock limited supplies of fresh fruit and vegetables, if at all (e.g. Hidaka). The old IGA in Kingsford does stock some fresh food, but is otherwise as cost-effective as a 7-Eleven for staples.

The irony is that they always seem to open up near social housing and it's seems to be their primary demographic.
