      Probably not too bad for learning to fly a quad if one is interested.

      I started with a $50 mavic clone knock off and now have a full racing quad. It is an expensive hobby though.

        No, VGA is garbage. I got one with 720p, three years ago, for similar price.
        Now you can get 720p with wifi fpv for not much more.

        Lack of GPS adds some challenge to flying them :-)

            seems sensitive to turbulence and sometimes tricky to orient with no identifying 'head' but proximity sensors work well and can't argue with the price.

                @Homr: I wouldn't recommend it - it's really an indoor toy and (disregarding drone laws and flying a noisy camera past your neighbour's windows) the main law you may have trouble with is gravity.

                Indoors, a random loss of control means an emergency landing (there's a single button for that) and fishing it from behind the TV.
                Outdoors is a different matter; it'd be very easy for it to go out of range and become a nuisance.

                Edit : as supabrudda says - you may be violating essentially all of the rules at once in your scenario.
