Adding a Handset to a Telstra BYO Plan

Hi there OzBers. I'm hoping you can help me out. My work has decided they will reimburse staff up to $80/month for their mobile plans. I'm on, what I consider to be a pretty good BYO plan I picked up from OZB a year or so back.

Telstra Go Mobile Plus BYO:
Unlimited calls and texts to national/mobile
Unlimited calls to 10 selected International Countries (I call NZ for work daily)
20GB data
12 month contract (which I'm now out of)
$46/month.

I'm happy with the price, the Telstra network, the intl calls and the data allowance but I want to get a handset thrown into this mix on contract which will bump up the cost of course but hopefully keep it below $80. Does anyone have advice on how I might achieve this?

    Telstra has the Pixel 3 for $89 per month. Jump on live chat and see if they'll knock off $10 per month for being a loyal customer and they might even throw in the international calls too.

    Worst case aim for the international calls part and you'll only be out of pocket $9 per month. Try your luck as they're usually pretty kind to customers that are out of contract.

    go in store and ask to put a phone on device repayment contract over 12 or 24 months and add it to your BYO plan. or get a phone on a plan work out what is cheaper depending on the phone you want.

      You would have to change your plan as well. AFAIK You can not add A handset (device repayment) to an old BYO contract as they don’t offer the “Telstra Go Monile Plus Plans” anymore.

    Could you salary sacrifice a phone? It may be cheaper and you aren't locked in to a 12 or 24 month contract.

    slightly different angle..
    go somewhere else..if you use data telstra no longer pool it..

    I tried to add another service to my account for my son and got told the best they could do was $39/mth with 1 gb data..so I went to floptus..got 3 services for $78/mth and 65gb data pooled..

    coverage is average but I am happy with the cheaper cost
