10 hour layover in Taipei during February

I have a 10 hour layover in Taipei for my trip to Japan in early February. I arrive at Taipei 4:30 in the morning. What are the recommended things to do in Taipei to kill some time? I was thinking of using the airport luggage storage and go get some breakfast at Yong He Soy Milk King. That's all I have planned for this layover.

  • Why do you have such a long layover, and why are you going via Taipei?

If you landed at 4:30 PM it would have been better to see all the night street stalls which are everywhere.
My experience of Taipei, similar to other Asian countries, is they are not catered to morning ppl. ie. most places open open well after 11AM.
Main City is quite far from airport too.
I would hang around Taipei 101, and nearby, Zhongzheng Memorial Hall.
If u have time for one place only, Jiufen Village would be the biggest daytime highlight, especially if you want a unique experience and to avoid seeing chain stores that you can see anywhere in the world.

I stopped in Taipei on the way to Japan in 2007 but we landed late at night. We asked the information staff at the airport what we could do to pass the time and they said nothing and it would have been better if we were there during the day as there was a free bus/tour to the city. We ended up sleeping on a sofa in the airport.
