Only the freshwater ones actually. Was told by Samsung that the IP rating is only for freshwater. This was after I returned mine due to water damage. Funny how a watch marketed for swimming shouldn't be used in a pool nor the ocean.

      • Was told by Samsung that the IP rating is only for freshwater.

IP ratings are a scam because the manufacturer makes up the test.

      • Everyone reads the warranty fine print, right? :P

My GearFit 2 died in a pool, and I couldn't claim it because I had used it in chlorine. I think the warranty for this one says you can use it in chlorine providing you rinse it in freshwater every time afterwards.

Sony did the same thing a few years ago, advertising using their Xperia Z phones for use in swimming pools (obviously chlorinated) but then later clarifying that the warranty was only for freshwater. Grr!

        • Any electronics should be rinsed after use in chlorinated or salt water. But if your watch died from water ingress soon after use, they should not be able to blame chlorine.

Sony were particularly criticised for their advertising with pools.
The engineers who designed the Xperia phones must have been horrified. It is made to survive occasional accidental dunkings.

          This watch should be better.

        • I washed mine every time after use in the pool. Still failed. I spoke to a a different Samsung rep that was visiting a JB Hi-Fi store a few months ago. He admitted that Samsung shouldn't have advertised this as a swim watch because IP68 isn't good enough for swimming. 1.5 metres is all well and good if it's stationary. But swimming exerts way more force.

I've had my watch fixed twice. Funny thing is, since the last time, I decided not to swim with it at all. The screen still died after a few months. This was after a sweaty tennis match. It came back to life a few days later, had been fine for a few weeks, then died again the other night after another sweaty tennis match.

If you want to swim or sweat with your watch, I wouldn't buy this. So far my wife's Fitbit Charge 3 hasn't missed a beat, except for some initial syncing issues, which are now fixed. Sure my watch has a nicer screen, better notifications and GPS, but they are useless if your screen dies.

Bought this last time and it was never shipped, got an email 3 weeks later saying they couldn't fulfil my order.

Same. Not worth my effort, I don't believe they have stock. Took a while before I received my refund too.

      • I bought one at $149 around Christmas time, and it was delivered. But returned it to get the wifey a galaxy watch instead.

  • do it has always on display?

Not worth it. still over priced

  • This Or Charge 3?

      This 100%.
In-built GPS, better notifications, nicer (coloured) screen, always on display, etc.

      • Depends on the ecosystem you like. Fitbit has a lot more connectivity.

I had 3x Gear Fit2s (not pro) and they had way too many issues…floor count, screen etc.
