[QLD] Pool for $9500 and Free Air-Conditioning with any New Home @ Stylemaster Homes

61

Hey everyone,

First deal I've posted here so I hope I got this right. I am currently building my first house and went with Stylemaster because the deal they had which they have just started again and thought I would share in case anyone else here is looking to build or a first home buyer.

Pool for $9,500 and free Ducted Air Conditioning
*The pool offer is for any house and the ducted air is for the Lux range (which I went with) and Split system with their cheaper range (they did offer a pretty cheap upgrade when I was looking at this range though)

I got the deal a couple of months ago but it looks like they have started it again, their site says it runs until the end of January.

Any questions on my build process so far I am happy to answer, it has been a super simple process.
(As a single male in my late twenties I have zero comprehension about colour schemes and fit out so they walked me through and did everything for me luckily haha)

Offer applies to 6000x3000mm pool of 18 lineal metres. Landscaping and fencing not included. Pool to be located 3000mm from outermost projection of home otherwise additional charges will apply.

I think I would have been very tempted by this when I was building.

It is why I went with them, it is a fully concrete in-ground pool. I got a quote from another pool company for something similar and they quoted me $26k. So $9500 for a pool I would have opted not to put in and ducted air as well was a no brainer for me.

I'll have a look this afternoon and see if the cover they have over it has been removed and I will upload a progress photo for anyone who is interested.

How did you go with comparing the build price with other builders on an accurate apples vs apples comparison?

Obviously the pool costs are built into the total price.

        Definite scam.

Their cheaper range the walk right in was in line with all other turn key builders but when adding the pool option, they definitely won on price but I went the lux range with various upgrades but when I shopped around no other builder could offer comparative pricing with a pool.

I actually asked the other builders why they couldn't do the same build and they said that Stylemaster had their own pool business (division?) and basically built it for cost for this promo, my consultant confirmed this also.

    • You probably wont be able to fit anything bigger on 200m2 blocks of land for most home and land deals

If it's too good to be true…

$9500 may just buy you a pool shell? You have excavation, engineering fees and certificates, internal finish, tile or pebblecrete, lighting, pool pump, filter, auto leveller, coping stone or tile at the pool edges, pool ladder etc.

Check the fine prints. Plenty of items that could add up to what should be the full price from your other quote.

IME pool companies can have huge markup (like 100+ %) on their costs. This deal does not sound unreasonable to me - a basic pool with no frills being done at a very competitive price, especially if they already have your business on the house where they are already making money and have trades engaged. Sure there will be extra costs with fencing, landscaping, coping, etc. but these are usually extras with other pool companies too. Would be great if OP would report back when it's all done.

If they have removed the cover I will upload a photo this afternoon of my pool so far. It is an in-ground concrete pool with all excavation, pump finishes and tiles included. The only thing I needed to pay for was the fence

The builder buys in bulk which is why its so cheap, and you already have a digger at site and concrete truck to lay your crappy foam floating floors

Just compare with other builders like Matt suggested.

I got quoted $150k more for A double brick construction with a 2 full concrete slabs (not waffle slab like Bulk home builders do)
