McDonald's Gawler SA keep stealing my money

2 times now they have charged me for another order hours after i already collected my real order. Both $40-$50 orders. I checked my bank there are 2 McDonald's charges, the one i got and the one i didn't ask for when i wasn't even at McDonald's. The first time i got a refund weeks later but its getting annoying, imagine how many times they do it to others and people don't realize? I only noticed because there were 2 McDonald's order emails. The first time i didn't even go to Gawler McDonald's yet they somehow charged me for an order.

They were mymaccas app orders

They created an order and then charged it seconds later.

Pizza is definitely the most forthright of all fast foods.

    $40-$50 orders

How much does the doctor charge to shake his head at you while not making eye contact?

I'm guessing someone has gotten a hold of your account details. Try changing your password ASAP.

    • It's only on the day i have already ordered, and has happened "only" 2 times.

My bet is that it is a dodgy staff member who has worked out a way to rort the system. It has happened to me before with McDonalds.

Go in and report that to a manager - if they get enough they can probably pinpoint the person doing it.

But in the meantime, change your login details and take your payment details off the app.

Wait. You guys are way off track if you're blaming the crew or manager for this. If you're using mymaccas app, then basically it's the technical error of duplication of order which happens but not too often. First, you gotta understand that what you're paying is not going to store's staff, it works like the account transfer. Literally, how can a 'dodgy' staff member can hack into your mobile phone, it ain't that easy.

    • But they don't charge you on the app. They only charge you when you go to the store, then they charge you. And both times were 2 hours after and 3 and a half hours this time (after me collecting my real orders)

I notice the app creates orders on its own. When i open the app it sometimes submits previous orders. Maybe staff members get annoyed and then charge it for the fun of it. Does not explain why its only when i have already paid for an order the same day.

      • Alright, now it makes sense. First, you were charged in the store as you ordered it on the mymaccas app. Now, this is the legit transaction,
Second, the app automatically processed your order and payment, which you didn't go to collect because you didn't order. Again, it's a technical fault. Best I can recommend you to remove your bank card details from the app and order as you go, then pay. The way it works is, sometimes the order you have in your cart is processed when you're near the store location to ease up the wait time. I hope this helps.

        • That still doesn't add up though. I don't believe you can pay for the order on the app, they have to confirm it when you are there. And the order was charged 3 and a half hours later. The real one says the correct time. The fake one says order created 4:51 and charged at 4:52. That means they created an order on their own at the store and then charged it. My real order was at 1PM

For example if you submit an order on the app at 12 PM and you go to the store at 3PM the order time will say 3PM as thats when they created the order at the store. They seem to be separate from the app. And the 3PM is what it will show on the email like the 2 fake ones ive had.

          • @ilovepizza: so were both orders the same amount.

That being your actual order and the "fake" order? Or were they different amounts

            • @RockyRaccoon: completely different orders. but it was an order i had previously made last year.

            @ilovepizza:

I don't believe you can pay for the order on the app

Huh? You can fully complete and pay for an order within the mymaccas app… Sends you an email receipt also.

            • @SBOB: they don't charge you until you tell them the order number

Q: When is my payment card charged?

A: Your payment card will not be charged until you Check-in at the participating restaurant to complete your order and pick up your food. The app displays a ‘processing payment’ message when this is being confirmed.

You will be emailed a receipt of purchase, to the email you provided on your mymacca’s account.

@ilovepizza: Which can be all done in the app.

When it detects you are in the location, via gps, you can select drive thru or in store and that's it. Order completed, unhealthy food being made and order number (which the app shows you) will popup on their in store display as being made/ready for pickup.
Multiple orders and the only interaction with staff is when they call the number to hand me my food.

Never had to tell staff an order number to make an order progress or be charged.

                • @SBOB: Exactly, you can't pay for it in the app at home you have to be in McDonald's and then they confirm it, the same as telling them the order number. They create their own order which is why it says order created at the time you entered McDonalds, not when you created the order hours earlier in the app.

With the fake orders it says they created their own orders seconds before it got charged.

  • Change password to app, its been compromised.

  • Don't use the app, it's a buggy piece of crap.

  • Bikies.
