One note pony. It's a dud.

  • From the last AV receiver post, there are a few ozbargainers that complained about pioneer av receivers, any pioneer users (units that are 2-3yrs old) that can comment on the transformer issues or any at all? Reports suggest that pioneer is not what it was used to be.

    • Nope my Pioneer 7.2 ch Class D is still rocking its over 6 years old use it everyday.

I'm very happy with my vsx 932. No buzzing issues on mine.

Might have had faulty batches / qa issues according to the previous post tho.

3 years old vsx930. Still working perfect. Used 16 hours per week.
Btw I think the 930 is still a better model as it has 2x HDMI out. Essential for me anyway.

      • 2 HDMI out is a neat feature alright. I'm guessing you have a projector for the second out?

    • SC-2022 still going strong over here.

  • Back panel/connections are almost same as Onkyo HT-R695. Bought the atmos package from JB during the break. Pretty good so far.

  • Damn! its a good price for this amp. I wanted one but ended up buying Sony STRDN1080 since they both were the same price at the time of purchase.

    • I heard good things about the Sony STRDN1080. Is there a "Power Output: Watts per Channel (20Hz-20kHz,.08%THD@8ohm 2ch Driven)" on the manual as I can't find it on the web. That's the only thing holding me back in buying a sony av. Maybe sony is being cheeky so that they can quote the higher power at 4 or 6 ohms for marketing purposes.

      • I can't tell you the Power outputs from the manual. I am one of those guys who take the item out of the box and never look at the manuals. Don't have it handy anymore, but certainly can tell you this amp does have some serious grunt as it can power 7.1 system at high volume without any fuss.

  • Been waiting for the Sony STRDN1080 to go on sale again at JB, their last Sony AV sale excluded this amp, the one before that no stores had stock. Saw the Pioneer in latest catalogue a couple of days ago and since than going through the reviews and specs. For a mid range AV amp to replace existing 15 year old Sony it ticks all the boxes and with the sale its $200 cheaper than their cheapest Sony sale price. I'm a google household and it seems to be that way inclined. I pulled the trigger this morning.

  • This is a very tempting offer I too was waiting for Sony STRDN1080 or Yamaha 685 to drop in price I missed the todd sale few weeks ago but even then it was high $700 this is very low $700 it will leave more room to search for better speakers as they are not cheap.

  • That deal ended yesterday
