At 200ºC you'll be cooking the coffee ground with steam. At 200ºF you'll be hot brewing the coffee ground the normal way. At 200K you'll be deep freezing the coffee ground. Your brand name twohundredº seems an odd choice for a cold brew coffee maker.

Re: YouTube video — Don't use an el-cheapo blade grinder to ground the beans as shown. You will have poor control over the ground size and you will end up with inconsistent and poor coffee.

  • Alvian, you are probably the first person who has grasped the link between the brand name and brewing coffee, well done! The link is to brewing coffee generally (200ºF for hot coffee like you observed) - we certainly don't recommend brewing your cold brew at that temperature! :-)

  • Any Oz bargains comment on this ?

Have you used one before ? Looking at getting into cold brews

    • Can't comment on the quality of this one in particular, but I have a similar model. They work much better for cold brewing than just steeping the coffee grounds in a jug. The fine mesh filter basket just makes life easier when you need to filter after brewing

No much can go wrong with cold brew. Grounding the beans consistently and at the correct size (adjust ground size according to your taste) is the most critical part, the freshness and quality of the beans a close second, and the ratio of ground to water a minor third factor. Brewing time and water/fridge temperature are very forgiving. (Okay, not if you pour 200ºF water into the ground.)

Don't use a blade grinder as demonstrated in the product video. Buy a conical burr grinder.

  • I think ALDI had this recently

  • I cold brew in a glass French press overnight in fridge. I've not used a dedicated 'cold brew coffee maker', but can't see it being that different. Keep in mind this is 26cm tall so would probably have to go in door space.

  • Hario cold brew is so much cheaper and very good quality, can't justify paying this much tbh.

  • +1

I just use a T2 jug (since, unlike the Hario, it's airtight so your coffee doesn't smell like lettuce and last night's korma).

But this is a sexy enough piece of equipment that I'm gonna have to buy it. Curves for days!

  • Cold Drip provides a lot more intrecàcies in flavour than an immersion cold brew.

I'd be more inclined on getting a Breur or if your a real nerd a Tiamo.
