Ozito PowerXChange 18V Pole Pruner Kit or Pole Hedge Trimmer Kit $129 @ Bunnings

200

Deal seems to be back on. Just saw on Bunnings website. Limited stock of pruners at Cannington, WA, but seem to have a few of the hedge trimmers.
Don't know about quality, but not bad for $129 + 5yr warranty and considering skin alone is $149 for pruner (and $159 for trimmer)

  • Thanks vitb1.
Have been considering getting one of these Pole Hedge Trimmers for a while (instead of perching on a ladder)

4.7kg mostly at the far end of a long pole… anyone have any feedback on how tricky it might be to use?
(I wonder if a ladder and regular hedge trimmers might actually be easier/safer?)

    • There's a strap that comes with it and it give you a better support. I bought the Pruner and one of the main reasons was getting distance from the cutting end. Climbing a ladder with a chainsaw didn't seem like the best option for weekend Garden maintenance.

      • The mini chainsaws can be operated one-handed, so the other hand firmly holds ladder, or better the tree.

          Tree? Haha!
Hopefully NOT the branch you are cutting down!!😲

@F111: Only made that mistake once.

    • I have the Aldi version, looks identical, was $99 for skin only but has hedge trimmer attachment as well.2 in 1.paid $79 clearence item
I used it a couple of times, pretty tiring after a while.

I had the previous model aldi which was a convertible electric chain saw and Pole pruner (AC plugin) and was a lot more than 4 kg at the end. Hardest part is using enough force to push through a branch without following through and taking something out.

Having said that it paid for it the first time I used it and the second time it saved me a grand so well worth it. I got up a ladder and used it which I am sure isn't recommended, but it was a big tree so what else was I gonna do? You want good balance, be relatively strong and have some practice off the ladder before doing that.

    • You're right, it does get awkward to work with 4 kg at the end of the pole however it's far better then using ladders and chainsaws. Just need to pace yourself, swap arms and make sure you use the strap to take as much weight as possible.

    • If you're holding it straight up vertically it's ok, though tiring. If you're attempting to hold it horizontally, no chance. You're right, it is very heavy.

    • I agree i tried in store the display unit and its so heavy weighted at the top and im solid build only thing stopping me from buying.
If you are looking to buy both the hedge trimmer and pruner get the hedge trimmer kit for $129 and the pruner attachment for $49. Works out $10 cheaper than buying the pruner kit $129 and hedge trimmer attachment $59.

While cutting the branch will hold up the saw until you cut through. You actually need to put some force down to bite in. It's not as bad as holding it up in the air on its own.

    • At full extension very hard to use. Medium extension ok. I speak mainly from using the hedge trimmer but I also borrow and use the chainsaw attachment.

The blade is short and it chews oil. 2ah runs out very fast with the pruner but lasts ages with the trimmer. The pruner is fine for appropriately sized branches

I use a platform ladder. You're kidding yourself with a normal ladder

  • I bought the Pruner before Christmas and I'm glad I did. I didn't think it would be powerful enough but it worked surprising well. I used Canola Oil for the oil system which tends to be used pretty quickly when your cutting everything you can find. Oil is not included with the Pruner and it is necessary to run it.

    • How much cutting have you done with Canola? Any problems?

Here's the 240V version, if you really need longer play time than a 2Ah battery will deliver

If its a long and tall hedge, and you can get power to it via a safety rcd it could be worth considering. Slightly shorter reach at 2.4m but has a longer cutting head at 470mm vs 400mm for the battery job. My non-pole petrolhedger is 600mm is my preferred length for a broad cut, but is too hard to handle up high unless you arrange a stable platform. Milk crates are so hard to find/borrow these days!

      • Doesn't seem to have a pruner?

I bought this a while back for around the same price. The amount of work this kit has done around my yard has paid for itself many times over. Very surprised it's still going tbh

      Same for me

    • Good to know! Was a little hesitant when I saw it, but took a leap given the price and warranty (plus the fact that someone at home keeps "persistently reminding me" to give the trees a trim.

  • Tempted but think ill go manual as need to get on a ladder for the taller trees..

  • Bought the skin for $149.00 on Tuesday😤😢😤😢.
Wife loves it. Won’t chainsaw through trees but gets through branches after the storms easy👍🏻👍🏻.

  • How long does the battery last before a recharge?

    • I have a 2ah battery, lasted longer than my arm did:D didn't time,I'd say more than 30min one branch after one,my arm gets really sore.

  • Anyone know when the line trimmer might be sold in bunnings?

    https://ozito.com.au/products/2-x-18v-grass-trimmer-kit-2-0a…

      • Confirming that this was at my local a few weeks ago but too pricey and not for sale skin only

      • Oh thanks they must've only put that on recently.

    • get the aldi kit,$59 for line trimmer.
most likely they all from same factory
      $99 for hedge trimmer/chainsaw 2 in 1 skin
      $20 for 4ah battery,$20 for charger
      $200 you get the lot
I paid a bit less cause some are on clearence.

      • Aldi ones pop up at the end of spring. So will be a while

    • I would rather have a 4ah battery than 2 X 2ah

  • Not good price for line trimmer.

  • I bought this recently (both hedge and chainsaw attachments). Very pleased with it and recommend it.

I already had 2x 4amp batteries, and they last surprisingly long between charges.
Cut a decently thick limb through by carefully getting it from all sides.

  • I'd prefer the Aldi 2-in-1 for my needs. If anyone (preferably in NSW) is interested in selling theirs 2nd hand hit me up. I don't think they'll be on sale again until October so I'd like to get one sooner now I'm in their ecosystem.

  • God damn it OzBargain…

Bought 2. Great for wheelbarrow jousting.

    Thanks OP

Don't use wheelbarrows that's not safe! They're too top heavy. I bought a couple of the 4 wheel garden trolleys. Its a good work-out for the dogs & lots of fun for the kids.

Phew, thanks for the heads up. I take safety very seriously and I am surprised to have overlooked the wheelbarrow.

        Feeling much safer now.
