It doesn't prevent theft entirely. More like theft resistant. Harder to open, comparments are inside, etc.

I find having my service dogs with me tends to make all of my bags anti-theft.
I have this bag, bought it a year ago when I got my laptop.
The seams are falling apart, I don't recommend it.
