    3,818 days of binary retention

    Sounds painful…

  • thank you. Have been waiting for a good deal.

  • What nzb indexers are people using these days?

    • +2

      geek is pretty good

      • Pay only?

        • +1

$30 USD for a lifetime subscription I think. I haven’t found any other indexer as good as geek though. Usenet Crawler was a nice free one until they shut down.

Seeing as you linked the reddit thread about the sale i thought i would post another thread mentioning an invisible cap on downloads

    https://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/comments/85tdw4/newsgroup_di…

The owner does state why its there but for those interested in signing up its a good bit of info. Im currently considering moving across from Thundernews which i currently pay $4.99 USD a month.

    • +2

      He/she was downloading 10tb a month!

    • +1

I'm also contemplating on making the switch too, been $4.99 USD plan with Thundernews its been good and useful when i required it but this price is a saving of $12.94 USD for 6 months it adds up since it doesn't look like i'm going to leave usenet for years to come.

      • +1

Considering they are on the same backend with Thundernews i dont really see any issues at all with moving over and saving the money for myself. Have been using usenet for over 10 years and dont plan to stop using it for a long time either

At the bottom of that reddit thread, he says he uses 20-30TB each month. That is a crazy amount of data.
I don't even think there are any ISPs in Australia that has enough speed to let you download that much.

Time to search for those hard drive deals, thats about 4TB x 8 drives, assuming he keeps nothing and wipes everything before next month.

    • Get max speeds through thunder. Do they use the same backbone?

  • +1

The previous deal I had from XS Usenet has ruined Usenet pricing for me now after having free access with Internode for years.

If only XS had run the same special this year.

  • How does it comapre to ninja or express?

  • Excuse the ignorance, but does unlimited mean unlimited uploads/storage or only unlimited downloads?

    • There is no storage. It is for downloading only.

      • lol usenet would be pretty empty without any uploads
The gods placed the data there in the big bang.

        • lol storage implies that he was going to use it as a cloud service.

I assume uploads are unlimited but can't find anything about it on there website.

  • Deal ends in 9 days

  • been considering going back to usenet , this about seals the deals

  • Good price thanks, I've been on US3.99p/m with NGD for around a year, so happy to lock in for a little longer now if this plan also comes with the VPN.

    • SSL connection is not good enough? Or need for something else.

  • Great deal! I'm with them on a yearly subscription (which I paid for 2 yrs) via a previous deal and I highly recommend them.

  • Does anyone know if you upgrade your block account do you lose what's left on your account? I gather ill need to register with a new email to keep my block data…

  • Does anyone still actually use the newsgroups or do you all just use it for um, data propogation?

    • JV saves his best comments for newsgroups and offers his left-overs for Ozbargain.

  • Can anyone PM me indexers being used these days please?

  • For those that have signed up for this deal like me there is also a free VPN which if you didnt get an email telling you the details just contact support and they will setup the free VPN account for you. It is Ghostpath VPN unsure what they are like but hey its free.

    • Thanks great info - what's Ghostpath like?

    • I was wondering where the login details were for the VPN. Just submitted a ticket to their help desk.

  • thanks, seems to have better retention than frugal.

  • Thanks OP too good of a deal to pass up.

  • Damn - deal has now expired :(
