I got some via the same deal in Sydney a couple of weeks ago. Great value for free, and they weren't bad as such, but not to my taste. The "new aluminium capsule" is also a negative for me as it means recycling is that much harder (can be done eg https://www.terracycle.com.au/en-AU/brigades/jde-capsules, but takes more effort than I'm willing to spend for what is a convenience coffee quick alternative to using standard ground coffee). All power to those who use aluminium pods and can be bothered to collect them and take them to specialist recycling centres (if tossed into household recycling they won't be), but this is one of the main reasons why I stopped getting 'genuine' Nespresso pods.
I personally now mainly use Republica (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/430431) as they are made from biodegradable plastic so I can toss the pods straight into the bin with a relatively clear conscience that (although just using coffee beans and my aeropress https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/423779 is much better as the grounds can go straight into the compost) the pods will actually decompose in about 2 years. (FYI Estimates range from 150 to 500 years for aluminium or non-biodegradable plastic pods to decompose). Only minor drawback is once the pack is open they will go stale much faster, but I just keep them in an airtight jar or bag so it's not an issue unless you love having a display of various pods in the kitchen in some sort of wire rack…..
They're still giving them away (I just got two boxes) but they're even worse than the ones I got a few weeks ago as they have a best before date of tomorrow … The ones I got last them had a best before of February 13
