Telstra 4GX HD Good Value for $60

Coles have this phone on special this week and I was wondering if it was decent value for $60. Obviously it isn't going to compete with a high end phone, but is it reasonably usable?
Cheers

  • Yes/No. What do you want to do with your phone? Its a $60 phone, don't expect much from it

    • My father in law is wanting to a smart phone and I thought this was a low risk way to try it. My concern was that it would be too slow and laggy and make him very frustrated.

If they just want to mostly call/text then it will be fine.

Its a $60 phone…. You can't ask the world of it.

Head into a Telstra store and have a play with a real phone and see what you get for your $60

Very low spec and frustration would soon be the end experience..

    4G Android 5.1
Quad core 1GHz CPU, 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM
    8MP Main Camera / 5MP Selfie Camera

Just the Android version alone may restrict what apps can be used let alone the 1G ram.
These days the absolute minimum would be 3GB ram & 32GB rom and say Android 7 or better?
Higer spec phones will be more expensive but with what they can do these days they are worth every cent.
They are becoming an essential item.
This is coming from a 70 y/o nerd btw :-)
Whatever you get him, get a full cover case. These things dont like being dropped and us neanderthals do drop things a lot.

  • A better but still rubbish Telstra locked mobile for free, possibly. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/426540

  • Got one of these today.

Seems to support 64GB microSDXC cards OK-the 4GX HD, recognises and formats these okday.
