PayPal is asking me to provide I’d to verify my account, I have $30 left in there.

Has anyone experience this issue

Should I provide my info to them (is legit) they blocked me from using it to buy stuff and is it worth it for $30

  • PayPal can be handy to use when transacting over the Internet, so you may as well do the verification process to keep your Account active.

Just make sure that you do the verification process after logging in to your PayPal account, and not by responding to an e-mail request.

    Is it legit ?

Yes, but , I'm sure there are plenty of phishing scams etc out there. I would expect they would be seeking your login details also.
Check in address bar and make sure it says paypal.com in address bar. Could phone paypal, to comfirm that it is 100% legit. So that sorts that issue.

It does happen sometimes. It happened to me, after having used paypal for several years and made over 50k purchases on ebay, then suddenly they were asking me to verify identity or they would not continue to allow me to use paypal.
I wasn't happy to send my license photo to someone, especially someone overseas. As I explained to them, I don't know every person who works for them, therefore even though I might generally trust paypal with such details, there is no guarantee that every single person working there is honest.
Eventually, I had them unblock account without providing photo of my license. It took about 3 phone calls though. This happens alot with all sorts of things, there will be people that say "we cannot possibly do this" , then you will talk to another person, and find out the first 2 people you spoke with just didn't know how to do something. Possibly in OP's case, might just be a matter of when system comes up as account blocked pending verify ID , it may just need them to click somewhere else to override or remove that message in system. Possibly only certain workers/managers/departments within PayPal can remove the demand of ID. I'm sure it can be done, just gotta talk to the right person at PayPal.
It would be easier just to give them your photo of license (after comfirming it is legit and not some phishing scam).
I wasn't happy to do so in my instance, as IMHO it opened up some extra security risk, and I was doing alot online at that time. If my details and accounts became comprised it could have let to large loss of $$ for me.

I was afraid of this too, i once heard that PayPal security was breached once on the news quite a while ago

      • Always go to paypal.com and verify that way.

        • Yeah i did it today and they approved it, thanks for the long paragraph of explanation on how to approached this but i tried several times but they still insist on me to give them my I’d ;(

  • PayPal holds a AFSL (304962). They must abide by the same rules as other licensees.

Log in through the official site, not through an email or anything else sent to you. Just go to the PayPal site and log in there. If there is any issue with your account, it will be in your notifications/messages. Or the other things you can do is call them and confirm over the phone what you need to do.

  • Just give them a really bad black and white scan.

    • Might as well conceal my face and I’d number.
Also did the black and white scan work

  • Definitely login via their official site and check to see if they ask for id to continue. Best tip for safety.

    • Yeah i gave it to them today and got approved 5 hours after, although i coloured in my face, I’d card number and reveal only dob address and name
