Legend, quick 5sec drive to ashwood and I'm locked and loaded :)

      Sure…. "drive"….

      /s

If we keep posting these referring to mock locations, the risk gets higher that 7 eleven will take action.

At this point, I think any regular ozbargainer is aware of the the tricks to lock and is able to find the main thread in the forum.

I would suggest just posting the price/fuel type/location and not make references to fake gps.

    • +1

      Updated :)

    • +1

Lol, did you make a reference to something fake?

      • +1

        Fake news?

        • Your name reminds me of tahdig

    • +1

Considering most of the comments in here reference the lock in website etc, I can't imagine it will be long until this gets taken care of.

Anyone who is aware of this process should be keeping an eye on the thread/have auto alerts via the project 0 website anyways.

Majority of the time these deals are directly taken from the forum thread, this price for example was posted in the forum thread 4 hours ago.

Is it posted for upvotes? I can't imagine there being another reason.

  • Good deal, I booked 98 yesterday for 120.9c. Looking to cancel that voucher and rebook with this lower price, but the app won't let me cancel :(

    • +1

You need to buy at least 2 litres and use the voucher.

      • Or gift it via a screenshot

  • +2

    It will get lower tomorrow

    • It’s still under downhill trend

http://fuel.ethergroup.com.au for web portal to lock in, easier if on a mobile device.

Non-SSL but probably not for much longer, working with Freighter on getting it enables.

    • legend! thanks for the awesome web app!

      • +2
        • Amazing thanks mate

      • Freighter's App.

Running it in docker so SSL is a little more tricky it seems.

    • How to get login details ?

      • +1

        use your 7-11 login

    • +3

Enter you app login details to some random site on the internet that,

      a) Sends your details in plain text for the world to see
      b) Could be (but probably isn't) harvesting logins?

Might be legit, but it's not good practice if you like keeping your credit in your account.

      • SSL Is now enabled on this, Freighter just sorted it out :)

        • Thanks - not knocking the effort, I think it's awesome!

From a security perspective B is still a concern. Especially for people that reuse passwords.

        • How do i enter how much fuel i want to lock in?

Or do i just top-up my account, then it'll lock in the max based on my balance?

          • +1

@eggs: Yeah it'll lock in the maximum available.

      • I'm a little weary too..

    • What's the benefit?

      • Of using it ? Just ease of use.

I book mark it on my phone and it's literally just 3 clicks to lock in.

Not sure why anyone or myself would want to steal 7-11 Credit, get a fraud investigation against myself and then have all the petrol station cameras all over me.

        I'm not catching any user:passwords

        High risk low reward

Fake GPS don't work anyway also detected by 711 app.

  • +1

Great deal for anyone living nearby

Attendant at Ashwood won’t accept screenshots of your fuel lock

    • +5

What are you talking about, if you are at Ashwood, why would you need the fuel lock voucher?

      • -4

I already had a lock for a higher price and wanted to scan it so I can lock in the ashwood price after I filled up my car and paid. Pretty simple buddy.

        • -1

So you wanted them to charge you more than their advertised price? You do realise the legal implications here for them right?

          • +6

@spy: I think you can unlock it by scanning it, if pump price is cheaper than the locked in price you pay the lower price and the app would be unlocked

            • @High: Makes sense.

        • So the issue was the screenshot or the fact they don't let you scan the app? If your issue is scanning of screenshots it's clearly not allowed in their T&Cs. People are already creatively using/abusing the system enough, it really would be a bit rich to whinge about your failed endeavour.

          • -2

@spy: It wasn’t a failed endeavour, I logged into the app on my phone and completed transaction.
I was just letting all other ozbargainers know. Cheers buddy.

A decent prediction of when to lock price. I usually lock when they said it is the cheapest in the price cycle and they have been right most of the time.

    • Thanks heaps!

    • +1

I prefer the old 1 week cycle when prices use to go up on Wednesday (or was it Thursday?) like clockwork.

  • I think this has expired :(

  • -5

What APK for android do I download to bypass mock locations? 1 i tried didnt work :(

  • If i want to lock in say $40 worth of petrol is there a requirement that i actually purchase that amount? What happens if I only have enough space for $35 worth in my fuel tank?

    • +1

no requirement. you'll be charged for only what you spend.

  • For those wanting to use a non-jailbroken iPhone to lock in,

Change Location of Non Jailbroken iPhone / iPad (Releasing Personal App)

  • +2

119.9 today (Eltham, VIC) - still pretty good

  • Could I clarify that if the current price of petrol is cheaper than the locked price, and if I use the app to pay, will I pay the locked price or the cheaper current price? I want to know that if use the locked voucher then I can reset and lock in the new lower price.

e.g. If the locked price is 140c, and now it is 130c, should I still show the app's voucher or not? Otherwise How can I unlock the app, then lock in the lower new price?

    Thanks

    • You pay the lower of the locked price and the pump price. So you will pay 130c in your example.
