[PC, Origin] Battlefield 5 Key GLOBAL - US $34.06 (~AU $48.23) @ Eneba

80

The military FPS juggernaut is back. EA Games storms the market with their fifth addition to Battlefields’ franchise. Battlefield V is set back in one of the most intense and horrific events of the past that switched the axis of power around the globe, the Second World War. Improved handling, vast customization options, all-new multiplayer experiences, a variety of unique war stories created for single-player, all new co-op content along with stunning graphics and visual effects make this action-packed shooter more immersive than it has ever been.

  • Get lost in action:
From an all-out 64-player death-match to attack and defend skirmishes, from team versus team clash to last man standing battle royal, Battlefield V multiplayer has it all. If you are a less competitive type or just want to get the feel of how hard the times were, solo-campaign offers a variety of historical close-ups, where you can play for one of the protagonists fighting in unique locations, varying from steaming desserts to icy mountain passages. Then there is a Co-op mode with the opportunity for up to 4 players to form a squad, customize your characters and face never before seen challenges together.

  • The overall feel:
As expected from Battlefield series, the graphics and overall mechanics are smooth and precise. Extension to movements and character animations provide the ability to execute rolls, vault, climb, slide, glide, run while crouching, jump, fall and other essential survival movements. You can also pick from 4 different soldier class types and 5 archetypes, drive various military vehicles, fortify your defense stations as well as gain access to much more in-game content.

  • Apex legends is free tho…

    • +4

EA, must be running out of feet to shoot by now.

    • +5

Well sure, but they're very different games, and Apex Legends has nowhere near the breadth of gameplay - only one map and one game mode

BF5 will soon have Firestorm, which will be a WW2-themed BR mode a bit similar to Apex Legends….but I expect it will play quite a bit differently, considering it will apparently have vehicles and a far less 'jumpy' arcade style.

For $35, BF5 is a steal - it still has a few annoying bugs and it could use more maps, but the core game is excellent.

    • Apples and oranges comparison, guns and FPS is about where the similarities end

  • How many loot boxes do I need to actually have a full game though?

    • +2

literally zero, there isnt even loot boxes in the game…

      • +2

What? EA did away with loot boxes? But I thought it's what people wanted?

Wait, has hell frozen over yet?

  • +2

People seem to despise this game, it's had a really rocky launch and updates tend to bring more problems than they fix. People are right to be dissapointed, but I've had a hell of a lot of fun with this game. For $35 and promised continual development (no DLC or subscription model) this game is a fantastic deal and I'd recommend it.

    • Its been the biggest disaster from launch rushed to get it out to compete with COD, launched with basically half a game with limited maps and riddled with bugs. Its most bored I've been with a BF game and thats coming from playing 1.5 years of BF1 lol

      • +1

Oh trust me I'm not really defending it, it deserves a lot of the complaints.
But I'm enjoying it nonetheless, especially with friends. Battlefield games have a typical trend of bad launches and turning out great by the latter half of its lifespan. It's a bit of a mess but I'd definitely still consider it worth $35, especially considering the roadmap for free updates.

Absolutely - there a quite a number of annoying bugs, some unbalanced weapons and a few poor design choices in the UI. But the game is still heaps of fun to play, especially with a few friends - the core parts of the game (player movement, gun mechanics, map design etc) are pretty solid and the graphics are amazing - easily the best looking shooter around. I'm having a great time with Squad Conquest at the moment, and I'll definitely be trying out co-op when it is released soon.

It's going to take a few more months for the bugs to be ironed out, and for more maps to be added, but I'm happy to wait….BF4 was a horror at launch, but it turned out to be a fantastic game in the end.

For the $100+ launch price it's not good enough. But for $35 it's a bargain….and way better than BF1 ever was.

          • @klaw81: What is better about BFV than BF1? I'm still playing BF1 but am considering V - to me looks pretty similar just new guns, new maps, more servers. Thoughts?

            • +1

@JamesRodriguez87: There's lots of little things, but here's the headlines for me:

              a) Far less explosives spam, which I found really frustrating and not fun at all;
              b) Far more limited 3D spotting, so you have to rely on your eyes and ears way more and don't have a symbol floating over your head to make you a target;
              c) Consistent recoil patterns for each gun, instead of random bullet spread - you can learn the patterns to be more accurate
              d) Limited ammo and reduced health auto-regen means squad team-play and roles have more emphasis, which I really enjoy
              e) In general aircraft and tanks seem less powerful and more skill-based (AA tank needs re-balancing though)
              f) No behemoths - I hated those things.

In general it feels less arcade-y, and more like a simulator.

Those who call it a re-skin of BF1 are just plain wrong - there are similarities in some maps, and obviously the game modes etc are similar….but it's quite different overall.

              • @klaw81: BF2 was and always will be the best BF ever. Maybe also BF2142
