Can I Make a Travel Insurance Claim Citi Bank Bag Full of Beer

Got on a cheap AA flight to KUL with a cooler bag as a carry on with a 10" Chuwi tablet 20000 MaH power bank heap of Zanax/Valium and some other things. Anyway I order the 3 Tiger beers for 40 MYR drink 1 pass out and as we're about to land the steward comes and gives me the other 2 I didn't drink so I throw them in the bag.
I walk into transit and immigration ask for my passport reach into my bag and it's all wet one of the tinnies has pierced and shorted out the tablet PB and phone charger lucky phone was in my pocket. Loss would be less than $500 AUD just asking if anyone has made a similar claim with Citi bank free insurance.

  • I've got no idea what your Citibank travel insurance PDS says (or how much the excess is). But you should probably read that or (easier) just ask Citibank. I'm not usually one to post "What did XYZ say?" but in this case I'm not sure anyone else has any better info because you haven't even put which Citi card you have…

  • Call the insurance who handles the Citi bank card Insurance…if you want a more reliable answer specific to your case.

  • There's no excess of $500 or more? Worth a shot?

  • No different to accidental damage.

They won't care about the details, pay your excess make a claim.

  • yeah leave the part out about drinking beer. how did you get to the transit lounge with the beer ? there is normaly a few security checks before that which they should have taken it.

    • I thought that too I think you can enter the transit with fluids but can't depart. I pulled out the empty tinny in front of security and binned it while they put the bag through the scanner with the other in there.

  • I have 2 CC with free Travel Insurance, and they both have an excess of $500 on everything except domestic airfares. So if your only claiming around $500 you should probably check your PDS to see if it's worth the effort.
