      I was recently looking for a pair of Yamaha HS's too. Got some M-Audio BX-8 D3's instead for $359, free postage, after recent sitewide 10%. The eBay sellers that I trusted for the BX8's all sold Yamaha HS's on their websites, but not on eBay. I probably would have clenched my teeth and sprung for HS80's if they had been on eBay for the same price as their websites ($735) minus eBay sitewide discounts. I've never had a "proper" pair of speakers/monitors before, just what I could scavenge from hand-me-downs and hard rubbish rescues. I don't know why local retailers aren't listing their Yamaha HS's on eBay. If the BX8's turn out to be terrible, I'll be shopping for Yamaha's again. But, I'll be easy to please and happy to have spent half the price of the Yamaha's, if there aren't any problems with this M-Audio pair.

    The Zildjian ZBTs are your budget/entry level cymbals (higher end are Zs and As).

    They would more than do the job for learners or those who want a set to bash around at home.

    But then again, I know some gigging drummers who use ZBTs, as they quite simply like their sound.

    Ultimately I guess that’s what matters. Hope this helps.
