Asian Beer Collection (8 Beers) $9.90 - Dan Murphy's AUS Wide

1370

Hi Guys,

Dan Murphy's has the "Asian Beer Collection" pack on special for $9.90. Pretty sure it is a clearance item as the beers expire in July-Aug11 and have been sitting in the store since Jan 2011 (for Chinese New Year). This is pretty much the same bargain as posted by another member as a managers special at liquor land a few weeks ago if I remember correctly…

The pack is made up of 8 beer bottles:

2x Chang
2x Sapporo
2x Tiger
2x Tsingtao

= $1.25 a beer

Not sure when the deal ends.

Also as mentioned before by another user they have Grolsch 1.5L swing top bottles for $9.90 as well I think.

Happy drinking lads!

Sweet nice deal, something different for me.

First time poster not asking people to go easy with the comments?? hmmm either he's incredibly brave or incredibly stupid.

          oooohhh.. shut down!
          very well said!

  • is this at all DM stores??

good price if the beers are nice.

    • Should be all NSW stores, I think it was advertised in the paper too

    • cheap beer always tastes great, it's nearly as good as the free stuff :-)

  • great value for infrequent drinkers.

    • +5

good value for frequent drinkers also

  • I'm not a big beer drinker but wow, this is pretty damn cheap.

  • +6

Nice deal for Aus but man do I miss the 60 cent beers in Europe.

    • +2

I was excited when I saw Kozel in Dan Murphys, even if it's nearly 10 times the €0.32 I was getting them for in Prague.

  • +3

I hate beer, but I love Sapporo.

  • +1

I believe this is actually all BWS and Dan Murphy stores.

All the 'gift packs' have been marked for clearance so they are selling them quite cheap.

There are two other gift packs IIRC - a local and a cider variety.

I work at a BWS store in SA and purchased two of these a fortnight ago when the price dropped.

Edit: The Grolsch magnums/longneck are on clearance aswell - went from $25 to $10

    • +1

Anyone know where the cider packs are available in Brisbane? Tried a few stores without success.

      • +1

BWS - clontarf + margate had them a few weeks ago. haven't been to the stores since.

Finally something for us non-Victorians :)

    • +3

      Tiger is so goooood

  • Nice one.
There are plenty of Asian beers I haven't tried yet.
Still rate Asahi as Numero Uno, that stuff is delicious.
Hope it comes to Melbourne sometime too.

    • +3

This deal is valid in all states, except NT and Tas where there aren't any stores.
      http://danmurphys.com.au/guides/weekly-landing-content

      Deal expires May 4.

If u love Asahi, try to pick up one of the Asahi beers in the aluminum bottles. They are fully important from japan (normal Asahi in Australia are from Canada)and they go down so much better! But atm there have been problems with stock due to the issues over there right now…

      • -2

Good tip, though I'll definitely be checking the manufacture date.

        Radiation=no thank you!

        • +5

You're likely to find more radiation in a regular banana than you would in a radiated can of beer. :P

      • +4

In Australia, Sapporo is from Canada while glass bottle Asahi is Thai.

I buy the aluminium bottle Asahi beers as they're made in Japan and actually slightly cheaper than the Thai product (same price, slightly larger bottle).

As for worrying about your Asahi bottle containing radiation, I really doubt that's an issue. Alcohol itself isn't exactly a health drink. It's likely to get you before the possible trace amounts of radiation ever will.

        • where to buy these Asahi bottles from JAP???

        • Dan Murphy stocks them at Noarlunga and Westfield Marion SA stores. I assume they are available at other DM stores.

        • first choice in Margate QLD has asahi bottles.

Heaps in stock at Burwood by the cases

    • -1

      strathfield*

      • +1

        No, I did mean Burwood

        • Sorry, should have been more clear.
Strathfield also has lots of stock.

  • It scanned at $12.90 last weekend for the same pack which had $24.90 on the ticket. I thought that was a steal. $9.90 even better.

  • I did not see any packs in stock at DM Noarlunga, SA.

  • time to get drunk tonight and eat fried rice like a china man!

Chang beer… I'd rather a glass of warm cat piss than this crap.

    • +2

Really? I'll rather any beer than warm cat piss anytime. Normally any beer that is super cold will taste decent ;)

    • +2

Each to their own I guess. I don't fancy cat piss, hot or cold.

  • Feretalica thanks for the heads up on the Kozel. There is a party in mouth right now! …its been so long since I had a Kozel.

All the Asian samplers and grolsch gone near me (DM in Sumner)

  • Picked up one of the Grolsch bottles but no sign of the Asian samplers packs anywhere in DM's Hurstville :(

  • Yeap, Hurstville is out of stock, got some mexican packs instead.

  • None in Wentworthville, NSW… gahh

Time to check Rouse Hill tomorrow!

    • Rouse hill is all out

When I was in Beijing recently Tsingtao beer ( and really any beer in general) was pretty much on par with soft drink prices.makes me wonder why beer in aus is so expensive when in europe and asia it's so cheap.

    • +1

if it makes you feel better… beer in japan is super expensive cos of tax. But then they sell spirits for as cheap as $2-3

      • When I was in japan earlier this yr I was buying 1L ashai cans for 6 bucks aus…

        • that's why you buy happoshu instead of beer.

beer is made with grain whilst happashu is made with a % of rice so it avoids the tax on beer. Yamaya food store sells a fantastic happoshu.

    • I think you forgot to mention the size of the beer, they are 700 ml ones and its the same price of a can of sport drinks.

    • +1 - on HongKong holiday I lived on TsingTao at the 7/11 - tho I was bummed when it costed $.20 for the (two 500ml) cans last time!! Sheesh $1.80 for 1ltr! Damn exy if ya ask me!!! - kidding!!!

The "white" cans over there taste better I feel though.

FYI this set is outta stock Springwood BNE - :(

    • when I was in shanghai with some friends we were in our hotel room with a dozen long necks. half way through them and completely sober we realised they were only 3.5%. domestic alcohol limit.

    • Beer in Singapore is also expensive too (even worse than Aus). I kinda think the Aussie culture of predominantly bottling in glasses vs cans could have contributed partly to the cost as well. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

  • +1

Make sure you drink them with ice. Asian Style

    • +5

Thought you said "rice" for a second ;)

  • Why isn't this available ONLINE via the Dan Murphy's website?

    Like other stuff is?

  • Tsingtao is what we lived on in china… I miss it. Now to see if I can be bothered driving to a store which is 20mins away to stock up on this.

  • No stock at Richmond, VIC.

  • no san miguel?

    • San miguel has been discontinued at the rouse hill store, so safe to say it is no longer stocked… could be wrong :)

  • Ta, bought a couple, plenty of stock when i left.

    6 pack cider house $10 (was $20)

    • hm…mexico's finest sounds good too… hm…

This is a great deal. Fine i will go grab a pack or two. Considering my local asian shop sells tsingtao for $6

    • damn, I wish that was the case in my local store when I visited today, those packs were all still full price

    • Which store is doing these deals?

      • Most BWS stores in SA.

        Though, stock is very limited.

  • No stock at DM Westfield Marion (SA) either. It's little wonder however, as it was an excellent price.

  • My neck hurts
