Flyscoot Refund

Hi All,

Scoot has reschedule the flight by 3 days with 21 hours transit in Singapore.
They offered 3 options:

  1. accept new itinerary
  2. full refund back to my bank account.
  3. 120% of the amount i paid as scoot voucher.

I request for full refund but they said it will take 6-8 weeks to issue refund, which is disappointing.
already contacted them via email, social media and call center, but still no different outcome.

Has anybody faced same situation from scoot and managed to get refund sooner than 6 weeks?

Thanks.

  • Could you onsell the voucher ?

    • Yes, voucher is transferable. But voucher has only 6 months validity and have to use in single transaction.

      • How long would a voucher take to be issued ?
You could onsell it for 20% discount and you'd have your full refund in cash.
How much are we talking ?

        • They said few days… could not confirm time frame. I thought about selling voucher but then again too much effort… (if i dont get voucher in time then keep calling them and then post classified and transfer the voucher on someone else name)… voucher value would have been $750 appox.

usual b/s from an airline, tell them you want interest paid on it at 5% per annum.

i like how every other transaction in the world, you get your money back asap, but airlines just rort it

    • I like your thinking, but even if this was agreed to, it would mean less than 1% over eight weeks. I'd rather just have my cash now than 1% more in a couple of months.

  • 6-8 weeks is a little ridiculous. See if lodging a complaint with these folks:

    http://www.airlinecustomeradvocate.com.au/General/Default.as…

does anything. They're supposed to be the industry's own consumer advocate…

    • Thanks but it says "The Airline Customer Advocate manages complaints about the 5 participating airlines. These are currently Jetstar (Jetstar Airways Pty Limited), Qantas (Qantas Airways Limited), Rex (Regional Express Holdings Ltd), Tiger (Tiger Airways Australia Pty Limited) and Virgin Australia (Virgin Australia Airlines Pty Ltd.)"

      • Oh damn, my bad.

Yes, you're really on your own with purchases. Government departments give some comfort to those who don't know - although that advocacy site might be good. Accept the refund, and take the time out to write a few reviews as your contribution to society :) Sitejabber is good - I've just done that myself. It's good because it comes up in searches. See, just now I did a search for "flyscoot review", and sitejabber is the 5th one down.

Productreview is more visible in Australia….

      • surely posting this on product review.

      • scoot is different to flyscoot. There are no flyscoot reviews on product review. If you put a review on sitejabber (which comes up in the search) it will be 3 bad reviews. 3 is better than 1 :). Actually it looks like scoot and flyscoot are one and the same. That seems to be a dodgy business practice . Federal hotels -> pure tasmania, forestry tasmania -> sustainable timber tasmania. Both bad businesses. I would make it be known that they are one and the same in a review - I'd put that in the heading eg "Scoot also known as Flyscoot, dodgy business".

  • Chargeback with your credit card.
    2 months is insane.

Scoot is a scumbag airline despite being owned by Singapore Airlines

    • Paid by Poli to avoid cc fees.

        Well, you're boned.

  • Make a complaint to CASE. They're the Singaporean version of Fair Trading.

Good luck if you thinking CASE from Singapore will help. Firstly, they will ask you to sign up as a member (pay a membership fee to them) before they even accept your case. Next they will try to mediate, which in this case the company already offered a refund. So they will say that the best result you will get.

No membership fee was required (or even mentioned) when I made a complaint to CASE. They developed the complaint and sent it to Scoot who immediately gave in and provided my refund. I had it within a week.

Whether or not they'll help speed up a refund, I have no idea.

      • Thanks. I will try with them.

        • It's not going to hurt to ask.

  • Update: manage to get refund today from scoot. but it took lot of effort on phone, email and on social media.
    Thank you everyone for inputs.
