Samsung ML-1865 Mono Laser Printer for $57 @ OW

360

Hi all,

Went into officeworks this afternoon and saw this on display. Just thought it was a good deal on a mono laser printer, not sure if it's a decent laser printer but thought i should share it with people on ozbargain.

Liverpool OW had about 10 or so on display so i'm assuming there is still stock available.

Enjoy! = )

  • I'm all about the $99 Brothers for their tray size, but I'm sure these are good too.

nice price. I just bought a brother HL-2130 for $59.95 at DSE.

    • Yeah, as per what Jesmond said, I think this deal you've found is better than the Samsung.

    • it is $89 at their Web site.
was it some kind of manager's special ?

      • Not really sure. It just scanned up at that price (however the display shelf said $89.95).

It was at Belconnen Westfield Canberra.

  • If you already have this printer and require a toner, much cheaper to buy the printer $57 which comes with a toner, than the price OW charges for a toner $94.

    • Only comes at half capacity (2000pages) instead of full capacity (5000pages) though. That, and it's bad for the environment if all you need is some toner.

You can even get toner refills off the net.

      • complain to HP and other companies then about the pricing of toners vs the pricing of printers plus toners, people will buy whats cheaper and not worry about the environment, fact of life…told the same thing to the Officeworks guy when I bought two and he asked why, i said second ones just for the toner, he got annoyed with me so I explained to him if he wants to save the planet as we all do, sell me the full toner at the printer price…he changed to being nice again and explained he couldn't. Guess hes not that serious about saving the planet only getting shitty with others that wont…funny that.

Toner refills void warranty with some manufactures.

        • Doing this would make the printers very costly as printers are loss leaders.

        • Cause and effect. They (manufacturers) are creating the situation so retailers shouldn't be surprised at the end result.

        • Buying a printer for the toner is a flawed "trick" that just wastes your money. The half full toner (generally less) inside means your cost per page is still higher.

      • i only got 600 pages from the starter's kit. :(

DSE is selling ML-1660 for $52 if you don't mind the spec is a little bit lower.

Roddo, Are you sure it comes with a 2000 pages toner? I thought the starter toner is only 700 pages, even the retail one is only rated at 1500 pages. I think you must have misread the duty cycle instead.

    • Yeah, I'm wrong. It has been a while since I bought my samsung Ml-2010. I think the full capacity with that was 2000 and the starter toner was half capacity…. My bad.

700pages is correct for this unit.

Had a samsung laser in the past similar to this one…. not a good experience, had a bit of a paper jam issue with it alot… not sure if it was the printer or the type of paper but yea…. just putting it out their from personal experience…

  • How much is the toner?

    • I have the ML-1810, which is the same model just white colour. Good laser printer, no problem.

Refills can be used after a firmware "upgrade", no chip reset required. The refill I bought is the same HP laser printers refill, $20 for 2 refills, that is about 4000 prints (according to the seller).

Easy refill process too, worth it.

  • I have the previous model (ML-1660), these printers are good stuff and will outlast a standard all-in-one inkjet printer. The process of replacing the cartridge is very simple especially when compared to the inkjet that requires a torch and a spare 30 minutes to wrestle the things out. Then another 30 minutes to wrestle the new cartridges in.

Wish I didn't already have a laser printer otherwise I'd get this one, it looks cooler in black :P Plus I would've saved $40. And I would've gotten the wireless feature

  • wow this is cheap.

    plus its wireless right?

    update::
just checked it out at ow, its wired ready :(

looks like im going for a wireless duplex brother

but i really want the automatic duplex function :(
pay less and get a smaller samsung or pay more and enjoy the automatic duplex from a brother. hmmmmm

    • Which model of Brother are you looking at that has automatic duplex?
As i am looking for one too.

      • brother hl-2270DW
im picking one up right now for 145
you can get them cheaper in NSW

        DSE sells them for 179

  • I got similar printer (ML-1660) on a previous sale.

good printer if you don't print a lot. works in Linux (just download Linux drivers from Samsung). no problems with it so far.

  • I can't seem to find it on the specs, but does anyone know if this can print double sided?

    • manual duplex mate

      • Thanks.

I was looking for the term "double" sided.
