I've gone through two of these protectors for my XS in recent months and I don't think the quality is great. Both have come unstuck along one edge(despite the first one being stuck on to a brand new, straight out of the box screen) and both have developed cracks, the first one after a very minor impact and the second one appears to have cracked around a piece of dust that got under it just as I was sticking it down.

Perhaps this is an issue with my technique or perhaps it is because of the larger screen of the XS, but I never had this problem on my old iPhone 6. The screen protectors I used lasted 6-12 months without any problems. Has anyone else had these problems with the Nuglas ones?

    • +5

Yes, found mine to chip very easily.

    • +3

      yes, same to my XR

    • +3

Different phone, but the Nuglass protector on my Pixel 2 XL sucks. I thought this brand was supposed to be really good…

      • +1

Same on my pixel 3 it slowly lifts from one corner, same exact thing with both that I goight. Also the screen protector isnt big enough to cover whole screen.

      • Yes, same with mine. Have you found a good screen protector? I'm still searching.

        • Nope :( Please let us know if you find something good!

        • in my experience with many different brands, this Nuglas is the best for clarity and touch sensitivity, if you apply it precisely. But it doesn't cover the edges -> very bad look if your phone is SS. Domeglass is also top, but it's 10 times more expensive.

In terms of durability, they are all same! You drop your phone, and the glass will break in most of the case. Don't expect the $60 Dome to be more durable than the nonbrand $3 on Ebay.

    • +1

also im still looking for one for xs that has a nice flush edge at the bottom of phone …with the swipe up you get that quite sharp edge on the glass

      • I'm using the 3D tempered by Spigen. perfectly fits the edges. $19 is quite expensive though!

    • +1

Yep mine too. But with this price, ive stacked 3-4 in the drawer so I replaced it everytime I chipped it. Edges are fine with mine though, I had to be very accurate by placing tapes to apply in the right position.

    • +1

Agree - had mine crack without even being dropped.

    • +1

Agree. Very fragile. Glad this comment is right at the top. I thought it was unfortunate for the first one to crack, 2nd one went within a couple of days and it wasn't even a drop. No surprise they sell them in pairs, I replaced the first cracked one because I got sick of seeing it, then the new one cracked anyway so I haven't bothered.

    • +1

I thought I was having bad luck, bought 2 pack each for my iphone 8 and switch (from ebay), both of them have of one of them chipped/cracked new from the box. I guess nuglass quality isn’t that good anymore.

    • confirm screen protector on mine and my partners XS Max has cracked within about 2 weeks for normal use, changed mine the first time and it has cracked again. I bought cheaper 1 dollar ones from ebay but they felt more plastic than glass. So conclusion is, these feel more premium and don't expect to get more than 1-2 months out of them.

  • Domeglass is the best in business. I have one on my Note 9 and cant tell if there's a screen protector at all if not for the cutout for cameras.

    • wow you are correct it look good with nice smooth edges but that price for iphone xs ….: (

    • I have the dome glass for the s9. Agree it's the best, but at $66 I paid for its expensive.

    • Is the domeglass easy to apply? Does it attract a lot of fingerprint?

    • +3

Jesus I just saw the installation video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ta9ydmenZr0

That is insane. You need a degree for that

    • Did you have someone install and if so at what price? Last quote I got when I'd just purchased my. Note 9 was $99… That was too many 9s for my liking. I'd rather replace 10 of these.

      • you get what you paid for. for note 9 you can get it for about 55 bucks

        • I'm aware of that, $99 is ridiculous when a screen may be 2-4 times that anyway and I haven't broken one ever to this day in the last 18 years of owning a phone.

I was asking because if these better protectors could be had around the $50-60 mark I WOULD pay that. The trouble is finding the reputable phone shops that fit them and not that aren't just charging exorbitant amounts for the same $2 rubbish from China.

          • +1

@db87: Fitting is quite simple. Make sure you sticky tape all open port. And drop the liquid onto the screen and line up the glass and watching the liquid fill up the screen. Or u can follow the video. The glass is very strong. I had to take if off twice, cleaned it and reapply it. I tried the chinese verison of this but the quality is nowhere near it. If you paln to keep the phone for as long as I do, for a few years, you should get this.

    • yeah, until you drop it you'll find $99 goes as fast as the $5 ebay ones. (my exp with Dome on Note 8).

      • Screen protectors aren't just about protecting from drops. I have one to prevent getting scratches

  • +1

hi guys what is the best screen protector for s8 ?
    any good brand ?

  • I don’t think mine ever arrived from the last deal. Completely forgot about it

  • +3

comeon guys, for $3.99 what better screen protector to get? this thing does protect the screen and so far have tried many brands and they all seems to be the same quailty regardless the price.

  • +1

Never got mine from last deal, not ordering from these guys again.

  • Nothing for pixel?

  • I prefer to get mine at the Apple Store they install for free and fits perfectly using a special device. It’s more expensive but worth it because I never fit it myself perfectly with no bubbles or dust or misalignment.

    • That’s $50 for each time you break one…

      • In the past 10 years, I’ve broken a screen protector only once - when my phone fell into a tapas minibowl in Barcelona. I’m pretty good at handling my phone, in fact I am confident walking around using my phone without a case.

        • How many times have you got the screen protector fitted in the past 10 years? I am assuming roughly 4-5 times?

          • @Krazyy: 3x ie only when it’s new (including that time in BCN).

  • They are the best. Does anybody know if they come for ipad pros?

  • How's the glass clarity?

    • +3

      It's a pane

      • I've had cheap tempered glass which made the screen fuzzy

        • Please google pane

          😁

  • Try to order iPhone x but says out of stock

  • +1

    Good price and quality

  • @dealbot for President!

  • I always buy the 5D ones on ebay so that it covers the full front of the phone ($5) – https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/382580797915

    • What's after 3D and 4D?

      • A completely set of One Direction.

        • That’s more like the younger version, not after

  • if anyone has bought from them before - may I ask: do they ship with AusPost?

I have difficulty receiving parcels at home so I tend to buy online only if they can deliver to a AusPost Locker.

    Thanks guys!

Edit: "You may contact Auspost at www.auspost.com.au; Fastway at www.fastway.com.au; Courier at www.couriersplease.com.au; or, Toll at online.toll.com.au."
looks like I won't be risking it haha

    • +2

I purchased a pack of Nuglas screen protectors in the past and they arrived in a B5 envelope in my mail box so wasn't exactly a parcel. I would imagine it was by Australia Post.

    • +1

auspost but by letter post. so it will go to the post office if sent to a locker.

The scales for hardness 5D, 7D etc relates to scratchability (eg diamond is “harder” than sapphire because the latter can be scratched by the former) rather than shatter protection. Just because it’s the most scratch resistant doesn’t automatically mean it’s the most durable.

  • Tried these on 2 iPhones. Absolutely rubbish quality. Very easy to chip and with the curve of the screen starts coming off at edges in weeks. There’s also tonnes of fakes ones out there so you have no idea if you’re getting a real one.

I followed the recommendations at an American forum which suggested the iCarez 3D available on Amazon USA. Holy smokes, amazing screen protector! Even comes with the special plastic template for the installation which makes it literally super easy to install and align it perfectly on first go. Not that expensive either, paid about $14 US dollars. Only problem is doesn’t ship directly to Australia anymore.

    • For $14us you should buy an Otterbox glass protector. Saving u the hassle to send it from overseas.

  • These are not edge to edge screen protectors. The 3D edge to edge type is far superior (but I guess this is why they are only $3.99 for 2).

    • yeah useless then.the edge is the first thing that will take a hit.

      • Even with the edge glass protector, if you don't have a back cover, the chance for screen to break is verýyyyyyyyyyyy high😁😁😁

  • iphone 6 6s protectors are out of stock :-(
created an account for nothing. annoying website.

  • "extremely hard to protect your screen?" What good is that?

  • Anyone received their order?
